Happy New Year, Husker Faithful. I actually loathe where CFB has gone, the NIL, the money, the geographic rivalries gone, the stupid conferences with teams on the Pacific Coast playing in the Atlantic Coast Conference, no loyalty from players or coaches, bowl opt outs, playoffs more than 8 teams, G5 lame a$$ teams in the playoffs, there’s so much wrong with the sport.
But these are the new rules. So we gotta do what we gotta do. It sort of reminds me when in NCAA basketball John Calipari said screw development and academics and just get me the 5 best one and done and I’ll go with that. That’s how I feel, just get me the best players money can buy. If you do this you will win more than you lose and even make the playoffs some years.
I think we can do this on defense with #BlackshirtsForHire. A mercenary unit that just is nasty. Suh is honorary captain. We can even add in some New Orleans bounty type incentives to our contracts. Like $50,000 for each sack, $100,000 for each interception, maybe like a team bonus for games where we hold opponents under 17 points or something. We can have Bowling For Dollars, we win a bowl game and it’s bonus time, cha-ching! Beat a ranked opponent? Free Runzas for everyone! Just embrace the absurdity of it all.
I hated the Utah game. They’re running trick plays up three scores and laughing at us. We’re taking timeouts with 11 seconds left in the game. As bad as it was, the only silver lining is the VERY OBVIOUS OUTCOME that we need the portal to help get us out of this mess. If Rhule has talked a big portal game and then fails to deliver, he will be gone. There will be no 2027 class. So put on your big boy pants and turn your hat around, get off the podcast, and deliver the players we need NOW. Not re-tread SDSU defenders but elite players that are going to the league.
