Lets see if the brass supports the coach and team.

Read this and tell me this article by espn isn't biased.

That's not even an ESPN article. ESPN, like many mass sports/news sites, automatically fills recap pages with AP stories. That was an AP story released shortly after the game. It was written by an AP writer named Mark Long, who then subsequently wrote similar articles, changing the focus around to suit different demographics. Sites and papers all across the country pick from AP stories for things they don't directly cover, so a paper in Cedar Rapids, Iowa might choose a version referring more to the Big Ten team, like this one. Mr. Long and other AP writers spit out a bunch of these bland recaps after all the games. ESPN's site automatically grabs one and fills the recap tab, which isn't read by many people compared to their exclusive content.

As far as ESPN, they had this exclusive piece, which was quite positive in every way towards Nebraska. And they published this quick recap/analysis on their SEC blog.
You mean, they chose different stories for different fan bases and their respective blog, you don't say? Now, which story is read if an impartial sports fan doesn't go to a Big Ten or SEC blog, and instead goes to the search the game score/recap/statistics? Is it the one that favors coverage of the SEC team and is that a coincidence?
Well, they have the cookie cutter AP feed and then an embedded box with a link to the ESPN.com exclusive. But ESPN probably programmed their algorithm to sort through the available AP recaps and find the one that hates Nebraska the most.

I was at the Chicken Coop and it was loud, so I didn't hear all of it. I did hear Ed Cunningham say Nebraska was trending in the right direction and keeping Bo was the right choice. And I think they both agreed the Alexander hit was not targeting. And the other announcer thought the play-call at the one was super courageous or something.

Yes, they talked about Georgia being affected by the injuries, which I felt was entirely within reason.

I may skim through the game tonight, so if there's anything blatantly biased or haterade, let me know what to listen for and I'll give you my thoughts.

No they both didn't agree. Ed decided it WAS BLATANT TARGETING...until they brought in an expert who said it wasn't. Then Ed changed his tune...but he said it at least 4 times that it was targeting and that there should be an ejection.
Oh, well in that case...

I guess I don't see the point you're trying to make here, Mr. Chamberlin. Other teams' troubles are covered by the media so Nebraska Fan can't complain when biased reporting is aimed at us?

That doesn't make much sense.
Uhm....if the media covers the troubles facing other teams, then it's not bias when they cover Nebraska.

Just because we don't like it, doesn't make it bias.

(And we kinda enjoy it when it happens to other teams)

Not sure why this is hard to grasp.

Ed: "To really put into context what Nebraska has done with all the injuries they've had on offense... to get to a place where they're up 24-12 against a solid SEC opponent on a January 1 bowl,.. pretty extraordinary job I think that this team did to hold together..."

While I wish Bo would have a less angry countenance, he is what he is. I was thoroughly pissed at his comments after the IA game, and still am. HOWEVER, I am like you guys.....an outsider looking in. To me, the most precise answer to Bo and his demeanor comes from those who have to live with it.......the players. Even the most rabid Bo-haters have to acknowledge that the players love him and are pretty emphatic about their loyalty to him.

That, right there, speaks volumes to me, and so I don't give a flying f#*k what talking heads, members of other fan bases or even people on this board think. If the players have that kind of love for Bo-----and they see him at his best and worst-----then I can live with it.

And I'm adding the pancake rabbits just because I miss that loon who was a Mizzou fan who used to post here......what was his name?

Tuff Tiger, and I miss that loon also

The next two weeks will tell us as much about the direction of the program by the influence of the chancellor and AD. Bo's annual review will take place and in all honesty is should be a positive review and have a 1 year extension. If this isn't done then we know they are trying to weaken the foundation that's in place. I know people don't think its that hard to win 9 games every year anymore because we play an additional game each year but if it were that easy there would be more than 3 teams that have done it 6 years in a row.

Extensions and raises for most of the current staff so they can keep those folks. Most are already being contacted by other coaches about openings. One of the biggest things to help the next step is to keep these guys currently on staff (with maybe assignment adjustments).

Also on the table is the request for 6-8 more full time dedicated staff positions for recruiting with actual competitive salaries. Bama pays Steele 300k per year to do this. I don't think we're asking for that but we need more than $40,000 for some of these roles. We also need a way for our staff to have more private plane time would also help when life is busy in early evaluation periods and late recruiting pushes.

More athlete support in the form of study facilities, life skills coaching, life after football education, tutors, etc
I disagree Bo should get an extension. He can recruit perfectly fine with three or four years remaining- whatever he has. Any recruit savvy enough to find out about the coach's contract length is also savvy enough to know they are bought out all the time and length of contract doesn't guarantee the coach will remain.

Putting this here because of the "outside of the state perception" that was being bandied about earlier in this post.

I played golf today at my club, where, obviously ( I guess) I am the only Nebraska alum. When Nebraska wins, I hear about it. When Nebraska gets slapped around or looks bad, I REALLY hear about it. Here is a breif collection of what I heard about today before, during and after my round.

"Hey! Nebraska pulled it out yesterday. Great win!"

"You guys looked good, gonna be good next year."

"Wow you guys beat a good Georgia team."

Now, I could have gone into the specifics about the entire game and season, like we do here, but obviously the USC, Cal, UCD and Santa Clara alums don't care about that, and it cements what ultimately is important for nation perception.

Bowl wins matter. And they matter a lot.

Casual fans see a bowl win, and it carries a ton in nation respect and perception. Nebraska will very likely be ranked in the preseason because of it. This was the first time in a long while where Nebraska was the game everyone had to watch (admittedly, because they were the first game on) and won, leading for most if not all of the time.

That's a good thing. Were things perfect yesterday? God no. But they won. Bo (I hope) is smart enough to know how important it is to keep winning like that. And I pray he's smart enough to know not to demand an extension after the year he had.

He needs to keep doing his job and improving. If he does that, 2014 should work out pretty damn well and this can be discussed. But after tapegate, a year with four losses where people were talking about conference titles, not the best national tv performances both on the field and off, but complete with some light at the end of the tunnel, he should be fine with the status quo. The fans have to be record wise.

and FYI part of the reason AA is considering the draft is due to some of the unrest here in Lincoln with the team feeling like the department does not fully support it.
This seems a bit of a stretch doesn't it? You don't think AA is looking at the lifespan of a RB as far as carries and basing his decision on that?
Thats what his family told a friend who was at the pre-games stuff the day before we played.
Sweet baby 6lbs 12oz jesus, this is gonna be a long f'ing off season...

Yeah was Rose hurt or was he just that slow all along and I didn't quite realize it?
hurt, out of shape, had mcdonald's before the game. i don't think he was that slow during the season. something was up.

then again, Santo's did the same thing over the course of last year and ended up playing slower this season too.

These pick plays Georgia is running should be called penalties.
