NU’s Moore ‘ecstatic’ with her draft status
LINCOLN — A first-round pick — to one of the best teams in the league. That’s a pro basketball deal that former Nebraska point guard Lindsey Moore will easily accept.
Moore — who set NU records for career games, starts, wins and assists — was the 12th and final pick of the first round in Monday’s WNBA draft. The team that picked her — the Minnesota Lynx — won the 2011 WNBA title and lost in the 2012 finals. The Lynx also were the highest-scoring team in the league last year.
“I’m ecstatic,” Moore said in a phone interview. “Absolutely. The WNBA has the best players in the world, and to be a part of that is exciting.”
I remember watching Lindsey as a Freshman, thinking even back then that she was something special. Now it seems like the blink of an eye and she's gone, drafted 12th overall by one of the best teams in the WNBA.
Thanks for everything, seym00re. It was a pleasure having you. Always a Husker. :bigredn:
