somethin tells me old grant mulkey wont be seeing the husker locker room again.... ever. although it always looks bad when you see the words "Husker football" and "jail" in the same sentence, but this isnt THAT big of a deal. I lived in lincoln and know how easy it is for this to occur. youre at a party with 150 people, before you know it the cops are there and you find out they had been there 3 previous times but noone realized it, then they are arresting people for "failing to disperse", and whoever happens to be the "owner" of the house gets the disorderly house ticket, b/c you are responsible for the melee. not making excuses, b/c if youre a Nebraska football player you CAN NOT let yourself get in a situation that could lead to this. that is one of the many sacrifices you make.
i'd have to say this is a side effect of the lack of control and authority by a figure-head / head coach over the past several wks. I doubt Call has even had time to meet with them more than 1 time. well now he gets his 2nd chance. welcome to college coach Cal. be interesting to see how he handles this. But you know what also sux is this takes away time from his recuriting which he already has so little of. dammit MULKEY!!!!!!!!!
Husker football players arrested, police say
Lincoln Journal Star
A Saturday night party ended with a slew of current and former Husker football players in jail and/or slapped with citations, according to Lincoln police.
Police were called to a loud party at 1225 Garfield St. at roughly 2 a.m., said police Capt. Allen Soukup.
Benard Thomas Jr., 22, and Wilson D. Thomas, 24, were arrested on suspicion of being an inmate of a disorderly house, failure to disperse, resisting arrest and failure to comply with a lawful order, Soukup said.
Jemayel Phillips, 19, was arrested on suspicion of maintaining a disorderly house, failure to comply and resisting arrest.
Steven Green, 25, who has no apparent connection to the team, was arrested on suspicion of resisting arrest, being an inmate of a disorderly house, failure to comply.
Those four were jailed, but were not listed at the Lancaster County Jail late Saturday.
Cited on suspicion of maintaining a disorderly house were Mark Brungardt, 20, and Grant Mulkey, 19.
Mulkey, a redshirt freshman, was arrested on suspicion of marijuana possession, resisting arrest, evading arrest following the Huskers' 17-3 win over Michigan State in the Alamo Bowl.
He also was issued a citation for failing to identify himself to officers who took him into custody after a brief struggle in downtown San Antonio, police there said.
No further details about Saturday's arrests were available at press time.
