Mack Brown on Nebraska

Give Gill a couple years with KU and they should be respectable again too. Mizzou will always be competitive. CU just needs an overhaul on the coaching staff and repair whatever relationships were lost through the Hawkins era. K-State should be competitive for as long as Snyder is around. Rhoads seems to have the Cyclones headed in a respectable direction. All in all, the North should be balanced in 3-5 years.
I'm of the opinion that KU being respectable and Mizzou being competitive is nothing more than a mirage. In KU's dream season, they played neither OU nor Texas. In Mizzou's competitiveness, they didn't fare well at all when playing Texas or OU. Until last season, there was very little reason to even play a Big 12 Championship game given how far behind the North really was from the South. As Nebraska's offense gets better, I think we're going to see that the North really won't be that balanced.

You may be right, but mirage or no, the perception is the key. If these teams seem to be good, and we beat them, it's as profitable to us as if they really were good.
