Maryland's lack of class

their behavior today at Penn State is unacceptable. Trying to force a rivalry cuz we all know they don't have one just showed complete poor sportsmanship. I have never seen nothing like it. i think those wacky helmets have gone to their head.

I just don't even understand why they did it. It's just strange.
What's strange is that the ESPN article written about it fails to mention the "pregame skirmish" that happened just prior to handshake-gate. Obviously the handshake thing was an extension of the skirmish, which involved Stefon Diggs, Maryland Wide Receiver. He was also one of the team captains that participated in the handshake opt-out.

Mystery solved.

Not defending the move, just explaining it.

Update: Diggs suspended by B1G for MSU game, Coach Edsall reprimanded.

The Big Ten suspended Maryland wideout Stefon Diggs for one game and issued a public reprimand against both him and coach Randy Edsall for violating the Big Ten Sportsmanship Policy before Saturday afternoon's game against Penn State.

Maryland was also fined $10,000 for the violation.

+] EnlargeESPNWhile Maryland coach Randy Edsall and wide receiver Stefon Diggs were reprimanded for a pregame skirmish, the Big Ten also referred to the refusal of the Terps' captains to shake hands as "exceptionally regrettable."

The suspension and reprimand were both a result of a pregame scuffle that, according to a statement by the Big Ten, was initiated by the Terrapins. Diggs was flagged for unsportsmanlike conduct, and the conference chided Edsall for not controlling his players.
