Maybe Texas wants us gone

Nice Nexus...anyway...

I still don't understand how a conference with Texas and OU wouldn't be enough for a BCS birth. Those 2 teams have played for the NT how many times since the BCS was formed? 5? Texass twice and OU what 3? Texas A&M is still strong enough with TT adding Tuberville, Okst competitive...if they can find a way to rearrange the north you might be ok...add a Utah or TCU...I'm just not convinced MU/NU leaving would blow up the big 12.

Texas and Oklahoma are gone if Nebraska and Missouri leaves. There will be no more Big 12. There is no way it will be viable with only Texas and OU as legitimate contenders for a national title, and they would be hurt in the polls with the strength of the remaining teams in the Big 12. I would see the SEC going after both OU and Texas to strengthen their conference. Texas would negotiate a deal with the SEC to have it's own TV network and keep the profits from that network. Texas is spoiled, they believe that they are special, and should have a better deal than anyone else. They are what Notre Dame was, when they went against the NCAA and made their own TV deal.

The only hope that Beebe has of keeping this conference together, and it is a very long shot, is to convince Texas to "share the wealth" with other schools. There is a lot of animosity towards them because of the deal they presently have, and it would only get worse if they have their own TV Network.

Bottom line, I see Nebraska and Missouri heading to the Big 10 "to get their share of the pie", and the Big 12 imploding as soon as it happens.

Exactly how many years has it been since there was a third team besides Texas or OU that were legitimate NC contenders? Please don't say 2007 or 2008 considering we all know KU would have gotten beat like a rag doll by both Texas and OU in 2007 and Mizzou got spanked in the title game each year. For nearly a decade, Texas and OU were the only legitimate contenders. The Big 12 will survive without Nebraska, and Nebraska will survive without the Big 12.
