McKeon and Octavien

I wasn't at the game on Saturday and haven't heard anything about this. What type of reception did the crowd give McKeon and Octavien when they were introduced on the big screen?

As for the crowd reaction to introductions... horrible for everyone.. the crowd was dead. It wasn't until the game actually got started did the crowd decide to make any noise what so ever. On the sideline, a guy from Big Red Report was even commenting on the lack of atmosphere and acknowledgement of any of the player introductions. He even went to say, "the kickoff kid got more of an applause than the players..." and he was right.

Maybe they didn't get a applause because not that many people are in there over 30 minutes before the game when the starting lineup comes on.

Agreed.. Lately I've been surprised to see the holes in the crowd closer and closer to kickoff, but this week.. it wasn't quite as bad. Did anyone else notice the defense run to the corner right in front of the student section after the tunnel walk?

I tried to be loud, but some blue-hair jerk kept telling my friend and I to sit down and stop screaming. He actually said that people two rows behind him were complaining that they couldn't see.

This gentleman was two rows above me, and I'm 5'10". He threatened to call the police on me!!! I said, "for standing?" He was serious. Our section 36C (literally every person in front of us...and I'm assuming behind as well) was sitting on almost every ISU 3rd and Long!!! On our side of the field!!! Every other section around us was standing and screaming.

I felt bad, because he apparently had his grandkids with him..or he was simply old-looking for his age -- but those two kids with him were clearly embarrassed. A woman next to me stated that this dude does that EVERY game and to not take it to heart.

I'm not going to lie, the last two out of three games that I have been to, if I simply am standing...this has happened -- in different areas of the stadium.

Note to self---always, ALWAYS get student tickets from now on.

Just a little insight as to the "atmosphere" in some areas of our stadium...I know it isn't like this everywhere in memorial.

A couple of years ago (I think it was early on in the 2004 or 2005 season), a mid-30-year-old told us to sit down.. and he was pretty serious about 'look I'm older, so sit down'... then in the 3rd quarter, my friend and I were standing again (who knows if the guy was even there still) and remembered the guy, so we were sitting down when an elder couple was sitting a row from us told us to go ahead and stand up. They said they understood standing and knew we were "enthusiastic" about Husker FB.

-This was crazy because the older guy had been standing and he looked like he needed to go take a visit with the Red Cross to make sure he was ok..

Bottom line it's not illegal to stand at a football game so if some guy threatens to call the police tell him to go ahead!!!! If someone threatened to do that to me that's what I would do. No one is going to tell me to sit down. I've never had anyone say anything to me about sitting down and I don't think they would like my reply back to them. <_< It's ridiculous...............STAY HOME!

I did tell him to call the police. I also asked, "what the F*%$ happened to Husker fans?" His wife told me to watch my mouth...and I did...as I did feel bad about dropping the f-bomb.

I've also learned to pick my battles...as a few years ago...the situation would likely have ended differently.

I just figured I'd avoid getting kicked out of the game.

I'm just rather glad that those tickets were free...

Actually I had the ushers tell me that if I stood up again they would call the police. I sit in Section 15, 1st Row, which is a halfway student section. I'm also in the first row so I can't see half the time because people walking by me every second of the game.
