Our favorite writer is back with a terrific post-Michigan analysis. Asks some tough questions here.

Nebraska could have victories over the two Big Ten title game participants — Penn State and Michigan State — so this isn't a panic spot.

But I ask: Is Bo's program structure — a low-pressure recruiting style, an unwillingness to cut scholarship players who don't produce, hiring "inner-circle" assistants — giving his roster enough breathing room to survive the grind of any league?

Pelini will begin to take serious fire from now on......recruiting for 2012 will be the first issue he struggles with, he is quickly losing favor and his philosophy is under serious scrutiny, it is now his turn to "step up".......

Good article. With the exception of a few play calls Beck put no pressure on Mich D, our offense failed an already struggling defense.

I agree. The future isn't so bright...I thought we had a chance at the Big 10 or at least to be at the game.

I also have to question his unwillingness to cut scholarship players who don't produce. We have a bunch of RB's like Okafor who tie up a scholarship but will never see the field.

This is a good thing for any prospect that comes to NU, but boy are we getting kicked in the tail by Bo's 1st class

But it was a perplexing performance from Beck, Martinez and the rest. I thought NU would move the ball between the 20s — then get tested in the red zone. Didn't happen. And when the Huskers are trailing 31-17, and trying to block a punt instead of taking the ball at midfield, it speaks volumes.
The thing is, a lot of our drives were ended by WRs dropped passes, penalties, and fumbles (lost fumbles and kept fumbles). I’m not saying Beck called a perfect game by any means. But it’s hard for an OC to sustain drives when boneheaded things like that happen every few plays.

We did have a chance at the Big 10 title...unfortunately the team blew it

I liked the part about Michicken seeing a weakness and continuing to go after it until it worked. Beck needs to learn this. review film, see weakness and continue to attack until it breaks.

Say all you want about our implosion, but a better prepared team doesn't do this. A better prepared OC knows we do not truly (right now) have the ability to successfully be a passing team from a combination of little O line pass pro, receivers who routinely drop balls and Martinez inability to deliver a catchable ball more often than not. Again, Beck was too cute or too stubborn and laid a turd in this game.

Bo was outcoached plain and simple. He had no answers for Michickens O. None. Sadly, I would think that in year 4, after pretty much playing spread teams for 3 of those years he would have figured out a way to slow them up. Still have no idea why we have yet to see a player in a Super D role. A lightning fast rusher off the end who simply disrupts the O. Super D only led the team in sacks, fumbles and was second only to Ruud (who broke and held the tackle record prior to David) in tackles for a season.

The D needs its fire and swagger.

I also think that having Captains every game instead of all season has hurt. No established ledership by title ie everyone knows week in and eek out rex is the Cpt vs Cassidy this week and then Moore, throw in Maher next week etc.... Need consistency in this department. Even though others are the "unspoken" leaders, defined leadership is found in most companies, military and LEO's for a reason.

You sound like me last year.

I'll agree with you in part because it cannot all be on Beck, and I like the guy a lot. However, that aside, it didn't seem like he was on his game today. He flashed at times, but for all that we apparently have in the arsenal, it's a mystery why it is mothballed for most of the game.
