McKewon: Time leading into dead period anything but for Husker recruiting

The last two months were anything but (boring) for Nebraska and the rest of the Big Ten. Since May 1, the Huskers have secured 10 commitments, including two quarterbacks and four linebackers. That includes six commits since mid-June. Nebraska lost an in-state commit, too.
The Huskers conducted their first Friday Night Lights events, and a week full of satellite camps. They deepened relationships with a top 7-on-7 team out of California bankrolled by former NFL star Keyshawn Johnson. They had Twitter abuzz on a frequent basis. And they likely identified an early staff star in recruiting, too.
