Pretty extensive recap of what's going on.

Liked the note about Armstrong running. Perhaps he's fully recovered from his leg injuries from last year and will be more of a threat running this year.

Also, really like his notes on Cotton:

A leader isn't just a guy who expects the best out of himself; he won't let others settle for less, either. That's Jake Cotton. Nebraska needs more players like him. Cotton wants the scout team guy to give a good look, wants the guy blocking in a drill to plow him back, wants to win every rep of his own. That's stewardship.

Something we've known for years now, but McKewon is the best football writer in Nebraska.

Looking forward to his observations on the defense

While I liked what I heard about Armstrongs running, that was also the most concerning part;that was the main improvement. I think I speak for a lot of people when I say I'd be happy with scrapping a lot of the qb run game for a reliable and effective passing attack. I shouldn't have to grip the edge of my seat on nervousness everytime we drop back to pass.

I know Tommy is young and has a lot of room to grow, and that it's the first week. But for us to be a dangerous team we need to improve our passing game. We have running backs who can run the ball. Let's focus on getting the quarterbacks to effective levels. Whether it's Tommy or not, I don't care. But I'm tired of feeling like a punt is inevitable on 3rd and 10+ because our passing game is unreliable and inconsistent.

Bet 10 years ago nobody would have dreamed of Nebraska fans thinking this way

Ain't that the truth

I am the only one who is excited for Zach Darlington? The kid is cleared for contact after that horrifying head injury he had! His commitment to get back and this coaching staffs commitment to him is pretty awesome.

Absolutely couldn't agree more.

Like McKewon said, it's easy to forget Tommy is just a sophomore. People will forget. Mistakes will be made, but I think that 'uh-oh' feeling on third and long is going to go away this season. I think Tommy has the arm to make all the throw's but also the smarts to create a play when it's not there. I like his patience, his ability to make things happen, but also his willingness to stand in the pocket and let things happen. It will make the offense look better, and it will help the offensive line do their jobs better.

I would rather see Armstrong taking off on passing plays when nobody is open and tip toe out of bounds without any contact for positive yardage. Those kind of plays can frustrate a defense especially when first downs are made.
