Message Board nonsense

This guy has a pretty good take on the message board nonsense

We are rebuilding on top of a failed rebuilding project!

This isn’t the amazing Huskers of the 90’s. This is a new Nebraska Cornhuskers team.

To paraphrase Rick Pitino, Tommie Frazier isn’t walking through that door.

EXACTLY

we won't become a national title contender overnight

We live in an "instant gratification" society, people want it and they want it now: they'll point out that guys like Stoops and Saban didn't need a long time to rebuid. It sucks to be where we are at right now, but people need to be patient and stop calling for heads after half a season. If we're not on our way there in 3-4 years, then we move on to someone else......JMO

Even 3-4 years is too soon to make a change. You need to get a full cycle of recruits through the system and developed by Pelini. We really need to see what he can do when the program becomes HIS.

I don't expect things to change overnight either, but I do think we should be more competitive than we are. It's not like we have players that nobody else wanted.

Exactly. People seem to neglect the fact Saban went 8-4 his first year at LSU and 7-6 last year at Bama. Stoops went 7-5 his first year. Jim Tressel went 7-5. Success doesn't happen overnight. It takes time.

Note that you just posted 3 high-profile coaches at 4 high-profile programs...and all of their first seasons were WINNING seasons.

Yeah...so what. I used these "high profile" coaches/programs to make a point. My point is this, people point to Tressel, Saban, Stoops and Carroll etc, and wonder why WE can't be the same way and/or have the same results so quickly. The fact is, these coaches who are very successful now, weren't so successful their first year. Stoops wasn't considered a "high profile" coach when he was hired (Florida DC went 7-5 at OU) Nor was Carroll (failing NFL career whose 1st season w/USC ended at 6-6). Tressell came from Youngstown (went 7-5 with OSU). Mack Brown from NC (who had the best 1st season going 9-3). Hardly "high profile" coaches at the time of their hiring.

Judging by the "cyber" tone of your post, can I safely assume you're expecting us to have another losing season?

Unfortunately, we still have to wait 3 or so more years to answer the question about Bo. Is he more like Bob Stoops or Mike Stoops? I'm just hoping and praying for a 6-6 season so we can go bowling.

Yes. A bowl game for this program would be huge. Not just for the fans, but the players. Remember they get extra practice to prepare for the bowl game. Practice the Huskers desparately need.

Yep. And it doesn't make me any less of a fan than you.
