MGoBlog examines the OSU situation

Note: Keep in mind that Michigan fans are about as likely to be objective about OSU as we would be about Texas. Still good points.

i believe you are a lawyer too (am I correct?); the funny thing about that article is that yes it is biased coming from Blue, but the arguability of the content is fascinatingly easy. For instance what does "self report" mean and when does it qualify as being done (both bloggers have very different interpretations). This is why lawyers shouldn't run the NCAA, they are the only ones that understand the BS they are spewing. If I ever get a job offer from the NCAA as anything but general council's office I would have to decline as I think it is in the direct conflict of the interest in which the NCAA serves, the student athlete. Lawyer's come up with these idiotic rules that SRO's like the NCAA should not be governed by. Just my two cents.

Great read. The table comparing USC to Ohio State is ridiculous. The difference in denials and cooperation between USC and Ohio State is itself a consequence of the allegations:

USC CASE:

NCAA: You should have known that Bush was receiving improper benefits.

USC: We respectfully disagree.

OHIO STATE CASE:

NCAA: You knew about Pryor et al. receiving improper benefits

Ohio St.: Not true. We had no idea.

NCAA: We believe your head coach knew for the past year.

Ohio St.: Is that true, Jim?

Tressel: No. This is ridiculous.

NCAA: We have an e-mail trail proving it.

Ohio St.: Jim?!

Tressel: Ah, hell; you got me.

Ohio St.: Okay, yes; we knew about Pryor et al. receiving improper benefits.

Why does the latter scenario get labeled as "cooperation" and "self-reporting," and the former scenario is "obstructionist"?

BOJ, you are a lawyer? If carlfense is, too, that would make three of us.

I'm not an attorney yet. Talk to me 6-8 weeks after July 27th and I'll let you know. :)
Good luck on the bar. You taking the NE bar? Where'd you go to law school?
Nebraska bar. Undergraduate and graduate at UNL. (7 years of student tickets. :) )
Nice. I graduated from the College of Law in 2007. It's changed a lot since I went there (as you know). I'd love to hear what you're up to after the bar. Shoot me PM if you'd like.
