Michael Rose-Ivey hints about the staff...

I think we're about to see a level of head coaching competency at Nebraska we haven't in a long time, in spite of Bo Pelini's particular wizardry with defenses.

It's awesome and heartwarming that the players are so enthused about this (as are most in the media). How many coaches in the country could have inspired such a reaction? With the atmosphere as it was, we could hardly have gone another direction IMO.

There were a few tweets about an "email thing". I'm guessing Eichorst didn't hold a meeting to let them know about the hiring and instead sent an email like he did with the firing...?

Jesus. If I'm Eichorst, I call a player meeting every time I do any mundane thing around the office until, eventually, the players go, "Okay, Shawn. You win. Please just send us a damn e-mail from now on."

Yeah, let's save the meeting for the meeting with the coach and everyone. All that was needed right now was the announcement.

I believe the email was to notify the players about a meeting tonight with their new coach. I'm not sure how he could have handled that better.

did you want him to send an e-mail to tell them to come to a meeting where he would tell them he hired a new coach and they were going to have another later meeting to meet the new coach? wait.....no e-mails... SE spends a couple days knocking on doors to tell the players about the meeting where he would announce that he hired a new coach and that there would be a later meeting where they would be introduced to the new coach?

Does anyone know of any profession where it is handled this way? Time to put your big boy pants on kids. A few steps closer to the real world.
