“The other thing I try to do push it a step further is I want team unity when it comes to the locker room,” Leach said. “When we assign them a locker, I try to have you between people you have the least amount in common with. In other words, a guy like me, say I’m a freshman wide receiver from Wyoming. I’d probably be next to a black defensive lineman from south central LA and maybe an island guy that’s a linebacker,” Leach said. “Whoever you don’t have anything in common with, I want that thing woven together in a fashion where they have to talk to each other and get to know people you wouldn’t ordinarily know.

“For example, the starting offensive lineman on our team isn’t doing a whole lot of drills with a freshman corner. I want those guys to know each other. There’s not a perfect system, but you can push it along.”

Kinda cool. Wonder if DONU does anything like that

I doubt it. I doubt that ANYONE does ANYTHING like Mike Leach. Other than his offense, and only after he had been setting passing records for a few years.

The guy is a real innovator. I used to hate him when he was routinely pummeling our teams. Really had Callahan's number. Since then I really appreciate his views on the crazy world that is college football. The guy needs to be a sports commentator when he retires. Controversial but entertaining.
