This "missile launch" was so very clearly obviously a contrail that I cannot believe anyone fell for that. We've been flying jets for half a century. Are people still confused by contrails?

 
It could be an aircraft con-trail. If so it was caught in the sun just right making the plane glow brightly, I guess the odd military reaction has fueled the flames.

 
how has the militarys reaction been odd? they said they didnt have a clue what it was, because they never saw a "missile" or any such thing. how are they supposed to explain some yahoos overreaction to a random contrail? its not like they track those.

 
It was the laser pulse jets from the skunkworks spaceplane. plausible deniability swamp gas, yeah that's it. idk

I didn't see it so can't say for certain. I have seen launches from Vandenberg AFB and the first time thought I should grab my wife for one last quickie before farmageddon. Rocket launches leave a beautiful multicolor plume, just don't take a deep breath. :D

I don't know what the skywatching scene is like in LA with the taller buildings blocking the sky more, but here in Lincoln on the knapplc ponderosa we have nothing but a giant expanse of clear blue sky from horizon to horizon. I see stuff that looks like this thing weekly.

It's a trick of perspective on the eye, nothing more.

 
They don't know anything about it, WTH !

It could be government, a private rocketeer, or sadistic. NORAD is saying it's a space ship not theirs, the press is saying it's a missile cause it's moving too slow to be a rocket, and everyone agrees it's a airplane contrail. So how does this happen with all the security we have and nobody knows what it is or where it went.
