Mitch Mustain

All-Conference
It seems one of the nations best QB's has decommited from his hometown school. Thanks in-part to the unstable coaching situation with Coach Nutt and others, Mustain opened his recruitment back up. Mustain is a consesus top 5 QB in the country, and one of the best players period. Mustain was seen as the hometown boy who was going to lead the Arkansas program back to glory.

New (or should I say old?) OC from Tennessee, David Cutcliffe may have snuck in the back door on this one and robbed one away from Arkansas. Cutcliffe recruited him while at Notre Dame and was a finalist for Mustain at that time.

Not Nebraska related at all, I know, but pretty big news on the recruiting front.

Akransas fans are not shocked. Arkansas has a long history of losing out recruits in the last few weeks to other schools. One prime case is Devin Thomas a 4 star WR who originally committed to them, decommitted and went to Michigan St

While it hasn't been reported, supposedly two things influenced this:

1. Initially, Mustain began waivering when the Arkansas message boards started clammering for Nutt's firing. It wasn't that Mustain loves Nutt - allegedly, he couldn't see attending a school where the fans lacked patience. He felt that if he didn't come in and "save" the program immediately, he would have those same fans breathing down his neck. Since he is one of the lone bright spots for the future of the Hogs, he realized that all the pressure would be on him. He didn't mind that - he did mind that the fans seemed so fickle and impatient.

2. Nutt is being pressured to fire the current quarterback coach - the guy most responsible for Mustain's recruitment to Arkansas. And it looks like Nutt will do it.
