On a scale of 1 to Sarah Pavan, Morgan Broekhuis is trending off the charts.
The freshman right-side hitter stands 6-foot-5. Like Pavan. She’s a lefty. Like Pavan.
But unlike Pavan, Nebraska’s only four-time first-team All-American, Broekhuis will begin her college career with some notable advantages.
First, she’s been with the volleyball team at Nebraska since January, enrolling early in order to train with the Huskers in China last spring. Physically, she’s stronger.
“I actually pulled out Pavan’s test scores and all of her jump touches and gave them to Morgan to show her she’s way ahead of where Pavan was at this point,” Nebraska coach John Cook said. “I think Morgan has a chance to have a great, great freshman year and is ready mentally and physically to play at a very high level.”
