Assesing the talent: Mossis Madu has recently popped up on NU's radar. Mossis is playing multiple positions this year for Norman Highschool, but mainly RB, and he popped up on NU's radar through Zac Taylor. Zac Taylor's little brother Press Taylor is the QB for Norman Highschool and it seems that there was some communication that lead to this interest from Nebraska. Nebraska has not offered him yet but are waiting to see some video on him. Mossis rushed for 270 yards on 15 carries and 6 touchdowns against Yukon Miller last Friday. Norman won that game 44-17 and is 5-1 so far. Other teams currently of interest to Mossis are Florida, and Oklahoma St.

Odds of becoming a Husker: None at this point. He has no offer from NU, but if the coaches like what he has to offer, he could be offered as an athlete.

This guy is the real deal at RB. He is underrated in my book. Madu has great skill. He slashes well, has very good break away speed. He is definently not afraid of contact either. Its easy to get a take on him locally. Hes on the sports highlights every week without fail. I hope Cally takes a good look here.

Season stats: 117 carries for 732 yards and 13 Touchdowns.

The Norman Transcript

Mossis Madu showed why he’s one of the most prized prep prospects in the state Thursday night.

In one of the most prolific individual offensive displays ever seen at Harve Collins Field, the Norman High senior darted, streaked and juked his way to 272 yards rushing on just 15 carries, six of which ended in the end zone.

The result of his half-dozen touchdowns was a 44-17 victory over Yukon. The win improved NHS’ record to 5-1 overall and 2-1 in District 6A-1. The Millers fell to 0-6 and 0-3.

Madu scored the first time he touched the football. Facing third-and-15 at the NHS 15, he took the handoff from quarterback Press Taylor on a draw. He found a hole, cut left and jumped over one defender before finding clear sailing for his first touchdown.

That play set the tone for the evening. Whenever the Tigers needed some yards, Madu supplied them.

The 200-pound tailback scored twice more before intermission on short plunges of 1 and 2 yards.

After the break, Madu wowed the crowd with more of his moves on his first carry of the third quarter. After the Tigers stopped a Yukon drive on their own 9, he started to the left side behind the blocks of tackle T.C. Bread and guard Des Stevens. Breaking into the open, he shook off one would-be tackler at the 20, faked out another at the 30 and then finished off his 91-yard scamper.

Madu scored twice more. On the first play of the fourth quarter, at the Yukon 33, he proved he has strength as well as speed. He hit the middle of the line, knocked down a linebacker at the 28 and bowled over another defender at the 20 en route to the end zone.

The Tiger standout ended his evening with a 10-yard burst that capped a 66-yard drive and the game’s scoring.

“I wasn’t expecting anything like this,” said Madu, who is keeping his college options open, but is leaning toward either Oklahoma or UCLA. “I was just trying to play my hardest and help my team. I got some blocks and I just ran. This is the most touchdowns I’ve ever had in one game. I got four one time in middle school.”

Asked where he learned his tackler-freezing moves, Madu said with a grin, “That comes from when I was a little kid and playing against bigger guys. I had to do something or get (hurt).”

Obviously, Madu was responsible for most of NHS’ offense. But, when he wasn’t maneuvering his way to paydirt, Taylor was completing 7-of-11 passes for 76 yards. One toss caught by Charles Stevens went for 39 and Brett Blacksten grabbed two for 20.

Blacksten also came up big on defense. In the third quarter, he ended a Yukon drive at the NHS 15 with an interception. End Justin Johnson and linebacker Brennen Knerr were two other big contributors to a defense that gave up yards (288 total) but no one gain for more than 17.

“It was good to come back and play this quick after the (Edmond) Santa Fe loss (last Friday),” Tiger coach Butch Peters said. “We played hard tonight, especially in conditions like this (a steady drizzle). I thought both our offense and defense played well.

“Obviously, Mossis had a great night. I think (his six TDs) ties a school record.”

He had another good night. Come on Cally go after this kid . He is an absolute stud.
I think the coaches have a few options at RB right now. Madu being one, Juco RB Wilson is another. And Cobb is another option NU is giving a look at. Right now, i believe it's Cobb the NU coaches want the most, so that it builds depth at the RB position for years to come
