My Predictions for next year

Five-Star Recruit
Don't hold me to these, I will most likely change them before the season starts.

Let me start off by saying that I dont think we lose that much from last year. Yes we lose those like Ruud and others, but most of them were under-achievers anyway. I think their backups looked as good or better then them.

OFFENSE:

Remember last year in the first half of a couple games. I think specificlly the A&M game, the Texas game, the Kansas game and maybe more... Watson called the plays. We scored points. We looked GOOD until Callahan started calling the games again.

I think with Watson calling the plays we will be fine on O.

DEFENSE:

We lose some starters from a D that was very underachieving all year. Just about anyone is better the Coz.

What it all boils down to is this:

How fast can Bo turn around the defense?

If he can turn it around and turn into just somewhat of a good defense this year we will be solid. If he can work miricles and turn it into top 30 or top 20 then I would bow down to the Great Pelini 5 times a day.

I would say a good, safe prediction for next year is 8 wins.

My prediction: is 9 or 10 wins

If Bo works miricles: 11+ wins

Defense losing some starters is a bit of an understatement. We retain a D-line that was our weak link last year, and then we lose the first 4 linebackers and first 3 corners. As well as a safety. We'll have to rely on some young and unproven guys...it can be turned around, I'm not sure what to expect too much.

I think Coach Pelini will get the defense working as he did when he was here. But he can only do so much with the talent he has to work with.

I really do not know that we lost a lot. If your not here to play, I don't care how good you are suppose to be, most did not give the effort to win is my read. Pelini will play people that want to play and work hard at it. He is a motivator and we may see some very different people than what we expect. He is known for his defensive skills. He will not turn his back on that. I would rather have a player that wanted it more than anything going 110 percent every play than what we had last year. Effort, never say die attitude will make the difference some games.

I think we will win the games we are suppose to. Be close in most of the ones that are questionable, but he can not work miracles. We lose, badly to Texas Tech and Oklahoma and play Missouri and Kansas close, but lose is my guess. Va Tech is a chance, because they will not know what to expect from him that early in the season. There offense has not been to hot, so it could be a very even battle right down to the end.

I will be happy if I see effort from every single player. I don't want to hear about our players in the bars after the games. I want total anger when they have lost. I want to see blackshirt play, or no black shirts awarded. I want intensity from the opening kick to the last second on the clock. If I see those things I will be happy with our team. I am not stuck on a certain number to satisfy me. Just a team that wants to win more than life itself. We see those things we will turn the corner soon. Maybe this year mabe not. But show those key ingredients and I will support them for ever.

My guess is 8-4 and going to a descent bowl. We will not win the North.

I do not expect a run at the MNC or even conference title but I do expect to see a lot better product next year and the years after. We may get our asses handed to us a couple of times next year but I agree with skersfan and want to see the level of effort increased dramatically. I expect we will be suprised at what a motivator can do with these players. Some may not like the NEW attitude that Coach Pelini is going to demand. Those players I hope are few. The rest will see what they can actually do with some hard work.

I think we will be competitive from start to finish but 3 years from now I expect that we will be the ones dictating the pace of a game and the outcome of most games.

I hope he finishes with 9+ wins...

just because the best college coach in history never had a season under 9 wins, and Bo is carrying on that school's tradition.

7 or 8 wins is about all I think Bo can get out of this team. The only blow out, if any will come at OU. The Huskers will lose some close ones, but at least the embarrassing loses they went through last year should be a thing of the past. This team will be much better right out of the gate , than any thing BC put on the field as far as being competitive. I don't think we will see anyone giving up, or they probably won't see the field much once that happens. This is what Bo's been working for his whole carrier, to get the chance to show what he can do. He wasn't my first choice but the more I listen and read about him the more it sounds like the right hire. Got a feeling, good things are a coming.

GBR!!! :corndance :corndance :corndance

-- 6-6 lots of players back from a poor 5-7 team. first year HC, mostly new coaching staff.

:woo :woo

GO BO!!

I think 10 wins is very optimistic. I think between 8-4 and 6-6 is what we can expect and anything over and above is gravy.

I honestly believe VT and OU are losses but those to me are the only two "sure losses". Yes Missouri's tough and so is Kansas but this team's gonna do a 180 with Pelini and the re-energized staff

The offense could/should be pretty good, and the defense can't help but improve. I see no reason with a llittle luck to win at least 9 games and challenge for the Big 12 North. Bob Devaney took over a team that had been 3-6-1 and his first year went 9-2. Good coaching makes a world of difference.

hey I know, why don't we have low expectations for this year and maybe we'll be pleasantly surprised , you know basically a 180 of last year

I'd be happy with 8-4. This season showed that there can be an upset on any given Saturday so I think the Huskers have a reasonable chance at 8-4 even with a good percentage of the teams on our schedule being projected as being in the 2008 top 25.
