my thoughts...

I know most of, if not all, like sam keller. But i do think he is part of the problem. Every time i watch him play i don't see any emotion from him on the field. All i see him do is go through the motions. He isn't a team guy. He quit Arizona State cause he wasn't gonna start then transfer to nebraska and then be the starting qb without having to work for it at all. Yeah yeah callahan said the qb spot was open but everyone knew keller was gonna start no matter what. I do think a lot of players are pissed about because he is not really part of the program that all the other players are. he was a new guy that was gonna be a starter. I find it hard to believe that in one year we have players that don't seem to want to play.

Why didn't this happen when Taylor was starting qb and why after 4 years is this all of a sudden players no longer want to play? I think other players see keller not as a true husker because he is only here for one year then gone. I know we lost people on defense but the defense shouldn'be be this bad. I do think it was a complete waste to get keller when we could've had other qb's starting for two years or more. To have them get more experience playing in the WCO. I mean at least Ganz played sparingly mop up duty last year so he woudn't be as rusty as keller seemed to be.

I don't think it is pure coincedence that the football team all of a sudden goes downhill when keller gets the starting qb job.

So... Keller is the reason our defense sucks?

As far as emotion, did you see how frustrated he was that entire game against MU? Did you see him throw his helmet after he threw that interception?

Edit: To me it seems, he is one of the few that actually give a sh#t...

Could be. I mean some people may have seen what he did as a quitter. It could affect the team in differenty ways. No i guess i didn't see that. but i would say it is about time he got pissed off about something.

The defense hasn't been good since Coz got his dirty little fingers on it. Before the season started, everyone including myself was giddy over the fact that Octavian was health along with Bowman. We were giddy at the thought of Suh dominating people. The secondary was supposed to be improved along with the LB corp. Long before the offense went AWOL, the D was sucking hind tit. I guess you must not have caught the Ball State game?

The reason Keller is even here is because of BC's mismanagement of Beck. We have yet to see other than a few isolated plays a BC recruited QB play yet. Why? If Keller wasn't playing, I'm guess we easily lose the Ball State game meaning we're 3-3. We might very well lose the Wake game being 2-4. I guess you must have also mist the Texas Tech game a few years back? What BC did to that poor freshman QB was down right dispicable.

I get what you're saying about Keller. I mean maybe Koetter did make the right choice? Arizona State is I believe still undefeated and ranked in the top 25. Keller is nothing more than another BC bandaid. He can't keep his recruits, so he continually must find bandaids. If Leon Jackson wouldn't have left, we wouldn't have had to move Culbert to RB. Look at what BC has done to the freshmen RB's this year. Castille has a very limited role now after the Nevada game. Helu burnt his redshirt for what 4 plays? This is a total mismanagement of freshmen IMO.

When they move Keller over to the D, I might start blaming him for the downfall of the team. The one direct thing he has power over (the passing game) is ranked #12 in the country. The entire offense is ranked #53. I think you get the picture. He's doing his job, and he's doing it rather well. It's not his fault the OL can't open any lanes for Lucky. It's not his fault the D is missing in action. I don't think he's the leader Taylor was, but he is doing his job. IMO, Taylor's leadership is the biggest thing that is missing from this team. We have no leaders, and everyone is going in a different direction.

Are you kidding me. With out Keller we would be 1-5 right now. Keller is the only offensive player to step up and say it is my fault, when his line should be up there explaining how they cant open a hole for our running game.

Then keller needs to step up and lead the team. I don't think it would be fair to say we would be 2-4 if not for keller. No one knows how good the backup qb's are. Yes i did watch the texas tech game a few years back and then chuckled when we played usc at their house and he got conservative so he wouldn't get embarressed. Now i am not sticking up for callahan or cosgrove. I have never liked callahan since he was the coach of the oakland raiders. but i would start a ganz to see how the team responds. who knows they may start playing better.

You know this 100% because??????? It's easy to say we would be 1-5 without keller. I could say if we still had taylor we would be even better because i know he would've tore into the offense right away. Yes keller has stepped up but seems to me he like callahan in his post game comments.

I have to disagree with your entire post. He is very emotional, and I've seen it many times. Actually, sometimes he has been too emotional and that is what has thrown off his game in the past.

If you're implying that all the other players are having a pity-party because of who their QB is, then this is a huge problem. This isn't junior high football. You play your a$$ off for your team, no matter who you like or dislike. If WR's are purposely dropping passes because they're pouting that the backup isn't starting? They should leave the team immediately. This isn't a f'ing popularity contest, it's NU Football! I really doubt this is what is happening, but if it is, then shame on them.

The defense has nothing to do with Sam Keller. These guys should have about a billion other things to be checking in their football soul, and the least of it should be what Sam is doing.

Keller isn't 'rusty.' He is learning a new system, and up until Sat., had been showing consistant progress. And make no mistake: Keller is not immune to the body language and emotions of his team. He could be sucked down with the rest of them, and he maybe was just as upset by that as with his own play. How do you perform well when everyone else has given up?

Keller is streaky, point blank. He Jekyll and Hyde's every game. Some drives he'll look absolutely brilliant, then the next drive, we might as well have Helen Keller taking the snaps.

But more importantly, "the moron" simply cannot coach. Some of his offensive calls, are offensive. For throwing the ball on 3rd and short, he should be shot on general principle.

Ok i respect your disagreement but college football isn't like the nfl where your team could drastically change because of money. I mean lets face it next year is another starting point because we will be grooming a new qb to run the offense. What about the other players that are juniors and will have to go through the pains of getting a new offense running smoothly if at all. Football is a team sport and especially college football is about emotion. Keller may not play D but that doesn't mean it doesn't affect the defense.

What if this is the best that these players are putting out? What if they are actually giving it there all and are just sucking? I mean honestly these kids get hyped up by rankings. Blackshirts are given out not awarded. There practices are sissy practices compared to other teams. (No pads, WTH) You practice with your A offence vs. your scouts and your A defense vs. scouts. The coaching staff seems like the coddling type not the; if your not working your a$$ off then your benched mentality. I mean I love husker football and I have faith in this staff but maybe just maybe if they connect the dots they will see the big picture and realize they are not living up to expectations, and I’m not talking about NC expectations but competitive expectations. Maybe I’m wrong, maybe it really is just lack of emotion but isn’t emotion one of those things that the coaches can instill into there players? It doesn’t matter rain or shine GBFinR!!!
