Nathan Gerry changing positions?

CJax should be locking down a corner spot. Gerry should be Manning the dime. No more no less
Have you heard this is the plan? Or this is what'd you'd like?
Shhh.......

I've been told so many things regarding CJ, it's funny. But that is my preference and a belief shared by many involved with the secondary
I was actually wondering haha, thought maybe you heard what the plan was. I like Gerry at the Dime, if he is fluid enough in coverage....and I haven't seen him in coverage enough to decide. I want to see CJax get a shot, if he get's burnt or whatever so be it...but he is too talented not to get a shot on the field.

This makes me reminiscent of how upset people got when I suggested he probably belonged at safety all along.

I've been with you. He did well and we obviously needed help at the Dime spot this year so that's good. But we really haven't had a play-making safety in awhile and I think he will provide that.

I'd like CJax to take a spot but I'm just not sure he'll get there. I'd be fine with Gerry at Nickel for one more year but not Dime - he wouldn't be on the field enough.

If true....he was only a freshman.

Played a ton of snaps, cut some teeth in special teams, got to travel w the team, see stadiums and crowds, he did what was expected for a freshman.

If he moves back to where he naturally fits, great!!

Even as a soph, 25-30 plays a game all around while gaining more experience is right where he should be.

I've been on the CJax wagon from day one. it just blows me away this guy is not contributing to this defense. I just don't get it. This is one guy I hope breaks through and makes everyone wonder.....why the f#*k wasn't this guy out here sooner?

With Warren now in the driver's seat, anything could be happening. Most physical and disciplined players will start! I am not going to say I don't like Terry Joseph, but I do believe he wasn't playing the best we had out there, IE CJax.

To a new secondary coach

Not sure About this. It's one thing to not play a guy but they moved him to a different position hoping he'd play more and it still didn't work. He may be one of the best physically but that's not the whole story. Similar story with Andrew Green. Started at corner as a junior but got moved to safety. You don't do that with a guy who should be starting at corner. You do that to try to find a different position where he can have more success.

Good move. Way too light to be a LB
Didnt Demorrio Williams play at 215-220
David wasn't far off from there either. To me it's more mentality then weight. David and Williams had that killer run through anything to get the ball carrier LB instinct. Now to be fair to Gerry we didn't see a whole lot of him, but he fits more the safety mold, imo....comes up to make a play in run game when needed with his speed but can stick with a guy in coverage.

Weight is not really an issue, if Gerry wanted to put on 15lbs and get to the 225 range I don't think is would be a problem. We have enough LBs, we could use another good safety. I think the reason why Gerry was played as a dime backer last year was because they saw how good he was athletically and wanted him on the field. It was easier to get him on the field as an LB in pass situations than as a safety, which is generally the most mentally tough position to learn on a defense.

I doubt it will be necessary. Last year he only had a few weeks to pick up the LB spot. Now he'll have all bowl prep, all spring and all fall for his natural position. He'll be in the mix right away.
