National Rankings thru 10/1 with a breakdown

OFFENSE:

Rushing offense: Nebraska went into the game ranked 62nd (138 YPG) in the nation in rushing offense. With minimal rushing production yesterday (36 total yards), the Huskers dropped about 20 spots to 83rd (avg 112 ypg) in the nation
v702

Passing offense:Nebraska was ranked 107th in the nation in passing offense (133 YPG). With a explosive offensive production in terms of passing (431 yards) yesterday, the Nebraska passing attack made the biggest jump in Nebraska history and national rankings, jumping from 107th in the nation to 76th in the nation. It also boosted it's passing pct from 45.3 up to 52.08%. Nebraska's 431 passing yards surpasses it's total yards in the first 3 games alone (399 total yards).
v702

-Zac Taylor also now holds the school record for passing yards in a Husker game

Total Offense: Nebraska was ranked 107th in total offense (271 YPG) prior to the match. Nebraska is currently ranked 94th in the nation (a jump of 13 spots up the national charts). Nebraska currently averages 320 yards per game after yesterdays performance.
v702

Pass Efficiency: Nebraska was ranked 115th in the nation with a rating of 78. Nebraska jumped up the charts in this category as well to 98th in the nation
v702

3rd down conversion Up in the rankings from 109th in the nation to 101 in the nation. Nebraska managed to convert 5 of 14 for positive yards, with all 5 of those first downs coming on passing plays
v702

DEFENSE:

Total Defense: Nebraska ranked 6th in the nation prior to the game with only 232 yards allowed per game managed to give a little more then that to Iowa State. Nebraska dropped from 6th in the nation to 15th in the nation. The average yards per game allowed increased from 232 to 267 yards per game allowed (35 more yards). Iowa St had a better offense then Wake Forest, Pitts combined and the stats show that. The deeper you get into conference play, the better the competition becomes.
v702

Scoring Defense: Nebraska had the number 1 ranked scoring defense in the nation, only allowing a little over 5 points per game average. Iowa St managed to score 20 points on our defense during the 2 overtime game. Nebraska managed to maintain that excellence and only moved down 1 spot behind Virginia Tech. While Vtech and Nebraska were neck and neck last week, Vtech got the nod this week after allowing West Virginia only 17 points in the game, and Nebraska allowed 20 (thus the reason for the drop).
v702

Rush Defense: Nebraska was 10th in the nation in rushing defense, allowing only 79 yards per game. With ISU getting less then Nebraska's average (57 yards), Nebraska improved it's rankings from 10th to 8th in the nation with only 73 yards per game. Ohio st leads the nation in rushing defense at 41 yards per game. One notable in this category is Kansas. Kansas is ranked 5th in the nation in rushing defense, so Nebraska might have to rely on a heavy passing game to open up the rushing game against them.
v702

Pass efficiency defense: Nebraska was second in the nation in pass efficiency defense. Nebraska dropped 5 spots to 7th in the nation. Not a big change, but Nebraska might need some extra attention to it's backfield going into the Texas Tech game. One thing to note from this category is Baylor. Baylor replaces Nebraska as the 2nd best team in the nation in pass efficiency. Baylor has an improved defense, and it showed against A&M yesterday.
v702

Tackles for a loss: Nebraska lead the nation in tackles for a loss with 14 tackles per game. Nebraska still holds that category but has dropped 1 tackle average (13 per game). We will give them a pass this week for not getting that extra tackle for a loss (call this stat neutral)

3rd down conversion defense: Nebraska was 4th in the nation, allowing only 22% of third down conversions by opponents. Nebraska drops 4 spots to 8th in the nation. Nebraska drops in this category due to our corners allowing ISU's receivers to pick up to much yardage as a result of playing 10 yards off the receivers. This NEEDS to be corrected.
v702

Other notables:

--Corey McKeon and Adam Carriker are tied for 5th in the nation in pass sacks at 5 a piece. Kansas Linebacker Brandon Perkins is second in the nation with 7 sacks on the year.

--Jay Moore is tied at 16th in the nation with 24 other players in forced fumbles per game. He has 2 forced fumbles on the year.

--Corey McKeon is 4th in the nation in tackles for loss. He averages 2.25 tackles for a loss per game

--Nebraska is ranked 65th in the nation in fewest penalties per game. This is unacceptable. The team needs to do a better job overall. We have been penalized 29 times for a total of 257 yards. We average 7 penalties a game . We also rank 80th in the nation in yards penalized per game at 64.

-Nebraska is 44th in the nation in 4th down defense conversions. The defense has allowed 3 of 7 4th down conversions. That needs to be addressed as well.

--Nebraska leads the nation in sacks. We have a total of 26 sacks on the year, surpassing last years total of 25 sacks thru 11 games. Nebraska averages 6.5 sack per game with Florida st behind us at 5 sacks per game.

Thanks for that rundown. I went to ESPN.com and only found mostly offensive stats.
I found the same thing, but I think that's because if they showed the defensive stats they would have to include Nebraska. They also probably wouldn't be able to show USC as much.
