I'm not sure what to expect from this team in the tournament. There are times this season we have looked really good and times just awful. I could see us losing early or making it a ways. We beat some good teams (vs Penn St, comeback @ Minnesota, vs Purdue) but then lost some games we shouldn't (@ Michigan, vs Ohio St). The inconsistency has been frustrating to watch especially with our supposed to be top players. We just don't have enough leadership from our players especially our hitters like we had last year with Kelsey Robinson.

I think this team lacks a power finisher. A Nancy Metcalf/Jordan Larson/Kelsey Robinson type. I know those are pretty high standards but they could be overpowering and take over a match. We have several really good players but not the top level one to go to when you have to have a point.

We actually have a favorable draw here. Washington is without two of their starting 6 (including very talented setter Katy Beals who tore her ACL in season finale match last week) due to injury. If we can get by the KSU/Utah winner, we may not even have to face the Huskies. I would put the Huskers up against anyone else in this bracket in a one match scenario to advance to OKC.

I agree that we don't have the terminator on the outside like we did last year..but I'll take a Kelsey Fien and (a pissed off) K Rolfzen to get us through the next couple weeks.

Dang. I guess I haven't looked at the bracket that closely but having to play a conference opponent in the Sweet 16 seems early.

This Friday's match vs. Washington will be televised on ESPNU. First time a sweet 16 match has been televised on any channel other than ESPN3 (per Washington officials).

And if OSU wins, there's a good chance they'd play Penn State next. LOL

Probably retaliation for the B1G owning the playoff last year. We set an NCAA record, IIRC, for the most teams from one conf in the elite 8. I think I remember Knappic finding that stat...
