What’s to stop a school from getting in bed with the Saudis like the cluck that got fired from CU tried to do when Deon first got hired? Or another foreign “investor” for that matter, where does this stop?

Here I was thinking if this happened in the '70s or early '80s, the University of Montana could have been sponsored by the Dumas Brothel in Butte.

My speculative read on this is that we suck so bad right now we weren't getting offers that felt competitive or worth it, which I guess if you don't have leverage but feel fairly confident you will soon, it's not a terrible idea, but color me surprised Dannen said no to any amount of money.

Unless the sponsors didn't want to be locked into a 1 year deal and he has something much larger up his sleeve for next year, this makes no sense.

I think its a combo of sponsors not wanting a one year deal, and NU not wanting to lock into a decade or longer based off our terrible standing and bargaining power right now.
