Nebraska class and honor

Greetings Cornhuskers,

A year ago, UCLA played at Nebraska soon after the death of one of their more popular players, Nick Pasquale. Nebraska went above and beyond as game hosts in honoring Nick and paying respect to the UCLA program. The Nebraska players wore his #, the fans released blue & gold balloons before the game and there were many, many signs from individual fans that paid respect to him. I have never witnessed such class and sportsmanship before.

I am writing now to let you know that the impact of these gestures is lasting much longer than a nice story on ESPN that one sports weekend. It made this one west coaster a Nebraska sports fan for life.

Thank you again for setting the example for sports fans everywhere and best of luck to you guys this season.

Gauchofreg, thanks for the kind words, and please stay around here and post, good or bad, off-season or during the season.

One of the things I kind of hoped that would come from that last year is that UCLA and Nebraska could schedule something of a more ongoing basis. A regular non-con game between the schools would be beneficial for both programs, and it would be awesome to take a tragic event like Nick's untimely passing and turn it into an ongoing, friendly rivalry game in his honor.
