Nebraska Trout Fishing

Has anyone fished the Verdigre Creek for trout?  I will be up in that area next weekend and thought about giving it a try.

To answer your question, no.  Never been.

I'm not much of a fisherman myself, but the best trout spot I've stumbled upon is at Lake Ogallala, across the dam from Lake McConaughey.   There's a point where the lake, a canal, and the Platte River all damn near meet.  From the canal part my dad and I both pulled our limit of trout in the amount of time it took to get a sunburn on the tops of my feet.  There was some fellows pulling big ol' channel cats from the same spot.

I believe the state record trout was caught out of that canal.  One of these days I will make the trip and fish it.

I usually go over by Red Cloud and fish a creek that runs through a WMA.  It's a pretty fun time wading up and down the creek fishing the little holes and bends.
