Nebraska VS. USC

As far as SC goes, what you have to look at is the coaching staff that Pete Carroll has assembled over the years. Before he came to USC, he wasn't considered a genius of any kind. In fact, he wasnt thought of as that good of a coach at all, he was actually the fourth choice by USC, the first three turned down the job offer. But he's solid in his defensive gameplans, and what he did is bolster that by bringing in offensive minds like Norm Chow (considered at the time to be the best offensive mind in college football) and Lane Kiffin (was QB coach, OC, and now Raiders head coach, and son of legendary defensive mastermind Monte).

On the defensive side of the ball, he had Ed Orgeron, who is a stud recruiter and was an assistant for the Miami title teams of the late 80s/early 90s. And the list goes on and on.

What you have to look at is the ability of our assistants in both coaching and recruiting. We lost our best (and perhaps the nation's best) recruiter to Butch Davis and North Carolina. And while a few of our guys are good recruiters, I still have my doubts about their prowess when it comes to the X's and O's, particularly Cosgrove.

And to those who think USC will never be stopped, what HAS to be remembered is that college football is cylical. Nebraska dominated for five years, and then fell off. Then Miami ran off 30-some straight wins, including their decimation of us in the Rose Bowl, and they were supposedly going to be unstoppable for the next ten years. And now it is USC, which, by the way, only has 1 national championship to call their own in their little run. So let the media have their love affair and rest assured that eventually, they will slide back down a LITTLE bit, and a new team will take their mantle as the next dynasty.

rumors already circulating about Carroll leaving at the end of this next season, but i doubt it, the admin out there will offer him a ton of money to stay.

Has anyone heard any updates on the Reggie Bush taking money, and the Recruiting scandal they had? Just wondering if i missed anything.

Not true. That will be the end of thier run and IMO result in Carroll leaving. USC will not allow Bush any contact or acess to thier events because of it, and Carroll is gone at the end of next year.

The Chargers are doing a one year exp. w/Turner and when he gets fired they will pay Carroll an insane amount to coach them. USC is a great school and athletic program, my father and grandfather went there and I am from the area but they are all done.
