****Nebrasketball at Illinois****

I understand what your saying, but our posters get upset when we get beat by teams that are much better than us. Illinois was not an underdog, they were a 9 pt. favorite.

I know. Im just saying nebraska football has never been ranked that high!

What?? You aren't making any sense.

I stated "Normal over reactions but quite a few giving Nebraska credit if you skip past the emotional first few pages." This was in response to the Illinois forum and the "over reaction" was their posters calling for their coaches job because they lost one game by 3 points. Typical unreasonable fans, not unlike yourself at times, over reacting to one game or one set of plays. The purpose of my post was to point out that many of their fans are giving Nebraska credit for being a good team which doesn't happen much in other fan bases.

Bringing up the football team has absolutely no bearing in the conversation.

Simple! You compared illinois forum to ours. Im just saying its apples to oranges as far as rankings.

Can't believe the day is finally here when the basketball team is way more fun and enjoyable than the football team.
That has happened several times over the last 10 years. Keisei Tominaga and crew were a heck of a lot more fun than anything on the football field just a few years ago. Tim Miles had the team playing well in 2018 & 2019. They were ranked that year as well but ended up missing the tournament.

Sure but we were never playing at this level.

This is our best start but its debatable that we were never playing at this level. 2023/24 season we finished 3rd in the Big 10, knocked off #2 Purdue 88 to 72, and beat the crap out of Indiana in the Big 10 tournament 93 to 66 before losing to eventual champion Illinois. Purdue made it to the finals that year. We have played in streaks at a very high level under Fred. It has been very exciting but, this current team appears to be equal or maybe better to some of those from the past... that were all more exciting than we have put on the football field the last 10 years.

My point to you is that our basketball team has been good several times in the recent past but they haven't been noticed by many who are just football fans. Glad our fans are getting on board.

Fair point I suppose, I do remember that run in 2023/24. I thought for sure we were getting that tournament dub that year, sigh.

It feels, thus far, barring a serious collapse, that a tournament bid is in the cards for the Huskers. A win there, and anything else is gravy. Just get the monkey off the back.

I've felt that way for decades.

The 90/91 team went 26-8 and ended the regular season with ranked 11 in the AP and a #3 seed in the tournament. They then turned around an lost to Xavier (14 seed) after two starters were suspended for "extra benefits" that were a couple of meals from prospective agents (as I recall).
