Nebraska at Maryland (-9½), 7 p.m., BTN. Fred Hoiberg told me recently he felt like his team was starting to figure some things out when it went on pause and had really benefited from adding center Derrick Walker, who served an NCAA-issued suspension to start the year. The Huskers played four games in seven days coming off their pause, but you could start to see the progress Hoiberg was talking about, taking Illinois to overtime on Friday and then winning at Penn State, 62-61, on Sunday. Maryland is just 4-8 ATS at home and not a team that can simply run Nebraska off the floor with its talent. At some point you’d think Nebraska is going to hit a wall with this hellacious schedule, but it’s possible playing so many games so quickly allowed the Huskers not to think about their struggles and play with a freer mind. Also, they’re 3-3 ATS with Walker. With this spread, I’m feeling good about taking the points. The pick: Nebraska
