Nebrasketball v. Purdue (B1G Tournament Edition)

Its funny how we were all just wanting an ncca bid & our first win, as we were projected 14th in the conference. We lost Essegian early on & still won lots of games. We are not very athletic & still one of the best teams in Husker basketball history. No disrespect to Lawerence, but this team needs a much better point guard. And a true center

Disappointing but to put it in context, we lost to the preseason #1 who is playing better than they were a few weeks ago during their few losses.

I'm still excited to watch us play against a team outside the top 25 in the round of 64.

We also are a terrible matchup with Purdue. Kinda like volleyball with TAMU, just got an unlucky draw. I think we beat Ohio State, UCLA, and Wisconsin most nights.

The way we finished the season will do us no favor on Sunday. 4th or 5th seed. I can’t figure out why they regressed so much. It is like they lost confidence after the first 2 losses after going 20-0
They aren’t a super athletic team. They struggle against bigger teams. Opponents just have to focus on Sandfort. If they take him out of the game, the offense’s rhythm is neutralized. Mast and Berke don’t work well together. If you’re going to run your offense through a big, you need 3-4 shooters in the game at all time.

The offense is the most productive when the team plays fast.

I predict a 1-1 record in the tournament. Could make the S16 depending on the matchup in the second game. Still a fun season.

Yeah, Purdue is probably the worst possible matchup for us in the entire league. Cluff or whatever his name is is an absolute goon monster wreaking havoc on our small lineup.

Underwhelming last 1/3 of the season overall, but I'm not feeling too down. Gotta enjoy the ride, and remember that the only actual goal is a single tournament win, which will be against a 13 or 14 seed team, with our only losses coming to Iowa (who is really good and top 25 range as a road rivalry game) and top 10 teams.

Watched Hoiberg's post game interview.
We started out tight & had several bone headed turnovers in the 1st half & got out rebounded in the 2nd. We got out scored by 20+ points off TOs & off. Rebounds. That was the difference. We will struggle against big centers, but the TOs & slow starts are an issue. I hope we win a game in the tourney to get the monkey off our back. I think this causes a lot of pressure & we are far from an experienced tourny team.
