Please keep in mind that I wrote this site 11 years ago, so things are a bit out of date. The site is an important historical archive, however. ;-)

I remember when UM and NU split the 1997 national title ...

- total craziness on the CNNSI boards. Hundreds of threads on the subject - all kinds of people bitching and moaning.

Michigan also claims the 1947 AP NC, even though Notre Dame was the official AP champ. that year. - The AP did a special unofficial vote after the bowl games that Michigan won, (back then the final AP poll was done before the bowl games). About the only place you will see Michigan listed as the AP champion that year is the Michigan media guide.

Also here is a link showing why the Huskers were the more deserving team in 1997
