new 2 star commit

all you callahan hanger ons might want to skip this thread- Corey Whitaker OL new commit from Vista Murrietta, CA (best team in CA) was/is ranked as a 2 star prospect.....Here is the deal, maybe his grades are an issue but at 6-4 or 5, 260 to 270 with little to no fat, video of him just mauling top level CA high school players (Corona Centennial no less) how is it this guy a 2 star?-

I watch CA HS football, and in Southern Cal- the Orange county/Inland Empire leagues are as good as they get- This guy destroyed some very good players and runs about as fast as you can ask an OL to run-

all you 5 star jock sniffers need to look at his video, and then tell me in this day and age, that all the great players are always rated correctly- they missed on this guy, and he was in plain sight- playing for a national top 20 HS team with film showing him roadgrading everything in his path.

Of course all you panty twisting star sniffers will need to understand signing this guy will bring down the average star rating therefore Bo should be replaced with callahan

I'll bite. Possibly he didn't market himself very well. That's a huge part of the recruiting game, especially for OLmen. Also, OLmen are very hard to gauge for recruiting services. Trust me, as someone who has worked for a national sports organization, I can tell you that at that level, OLmen gain media interest from basically size or a team's rushing statistics. This is because, other than pancakes (which most HS don't even record) there are hardly any statistics to evaluate the player, especially for reporters who don't necessarily have the same level of football understanding as coaches.

However looking at his team's rushing stats, that's probably not the case. Last year they averaged 235.9 YPG and ran for 3302 yards in the season.

So in short, it was probably a mixture of bad self-marketing and a lack of connections.
