Yes, I did - and I became friends with Brad, his girlfriend and family.
This blows me away. While Brad and I communicated completely over the Internet - we never actually met - I've got some of the "scratch" demos of a number of the Boston songs that had Brad as lead vocalist from him. I have to say, the new guy, Tommy DeCarlo, sounds almost identical to Brad when you listen to his MySpace recordings and compare them to either the released Boston music or the "scratch" demos. Gives me goose bumps, to be honest. He doesn't have quite the high range that Brad had on the first couple of albums - but then again, as Brad said, even Brad didn't have the ability to hit that "More Than A Feeling" high note any longer (one of the reasons that Fran Cosmo was brought in).
What I find even more amazing is the "fullness" sound that Brad always had, and the inflection and pronunciation - almost spot on to Brad.
I'm not a huge Tom Scholz fan - in fact, I don't have any respect at all of the guy after having to deal with him even a little bit - but it seems he's lucked out.
