New field turf for 2013

Wow.... even though the design is the same, this just looks so much better. I really like the darker greens. The whole thing just looks more inviting.

The 2005 turf didn't look nearly that good when it was new.

It's hard to say either way. The new stuff hasn't had any cork/sand added to it which will lighten it up a bit. This is from a year and some change after the install of the last turf:

Here's a side-by-side comparison of old vs. new turf. You can really see the difference eight years makes. Old turf, obviously, on the right. No cork/sand/rubber in either sample so the colors are a bit off.

Were those blades on the right originally as wide as the blades of turf on the left? Man, if so that really did take a beating. I assume the cleats and sun just kind of shred it over time?

My guess artificial crabgrass on the left and bermuda grass on the right. Crabgrass is tougher. Related question: In FieldTurf shoes, regular cleats (real grass) or special cleats ? :dunno

It appears so. It's hard to see on the blades on the right, and they're kinda mashed down now that the substrata is gone, but originally they were similar, if not actually identical.

You use regular cleats. It still performs like grass in that sense. Some guys will use a bit shorter spike, but most use the same cleats for both.

The word Huskers looks crooked and all over the place
Looks like they at least have the logos/letters in the right locations on the field. Could be worse. See Minnesota Crookston:

Are you sure that those are crooked, and it's not the fact that the field has a crown?
I believe the M being between the 40 and 50 rather than centered on the 50 is why he was referring to this image? :dunno

Ha..... didn't even notice that.

I'd been planning for months to go to that Wyoming game.... was gonna drive up from north Denver. Then I saw what the tickets were gonna cost me. I ended up having a gig that night anyway.
