Newell is down to 270 lbs per Coach Kaz's request. This is an attempt to get him ready to get on the field as a DE this year.

I think the goal should be a reliable backup.
Will be interesting to see how this works out this year. He has the size to play base DE but he's used to running around as basically an OLB. And he can grow into a DT. I think he can provide some help if needed at DE this year but I hope between Keels and Natter someone can step up and we don't need to be moving a bunch of guys around.
