Sorry if double posted. I read this on Journal Star. Found it interesting.

So, what’s the deal? Chemistry issues?

No, Callahan said. No, not that.

“They’re well-connected. There’s no disconnect. That’s for certain,” he said. “There’s a lot of communication and dialogue with our players. I don’t sense that is any concern whatsoever in terms of our players’ ability and their coaches that communicate to them. There’s an open door and I think our guys have done a great job of listening to the players.”

Maybe a lack of fire?

No, Callahan said. No, not that.

“I look at our football team. We’re emotionally ready,” he said. “I know during the week we practice hard, we’re intense. And I know that going into the game our guys are up and they’re spirited, and they got fire, and they want to play.

“My God, they were ready to break down the (locker room) door the other night. They wanted to play. Unfortunately, it hasn’t transpired to performance at times and that’s the disappointing thing.”

If that was the case, WTH happened between the time the doors were closed and then opened?

That makes no sense and I think he is full of s*&t! If the team was ready to play that bad it sure as hell didn't transfer onto the field. I think he is basically saying, "I don't have a clue what's wrong right now, but they need to figure it our not me!" Gimme a break.

I now think Callahan is basically a liar.

Maybe he says those things to protect his players.

But his spin grows hollower by the day.

thats just insulting to me. I come from a coaching family, so I realize that there is much more to coaching then people realize. but a person whose never even seen a football game before could have told you our lack of intensity was a problem.....

:yeah

What really pisses me off is that he HAS to know that we see the lack of intensity, and he still blatantly spews this crap. Look, we see it, alright Bill? You can't gloss over it with your NFL coach-speak. We're not morons. The team looked as intense as I do before a dentist visit. Just come out admit it, there are some issues here.

The issue is being directed to the players performance, which directs criticism away from him. However, if the performance is disappointing as recognized, the coach needs to make a change and put in the players that will play better. Right now, it falls on the coaches and the players they choose to put in the game.
