Next game...what will we see different?

What are some things you all expect to change from game 1 to game 2? Game 1 gave us an idea what we are made of. One thing that happened in game 1 that won't happen in game 2 is us passing to Hardy so much early on. He wasn't focused and he costed us 2 times that we could have converted a 1st down. IMO Purify should have him unseated. Especially by time the SC game rolls around.

Hardy has been spotty since his arrival.

I agree that Purify will see the feild way more . He will get more and more comfortable with the offense.

Yea, it'll be hard to keep him off the field in the coming games.

I'd like to see Purify in closer to the goal line when we pass, just throw one up to him. I think our team will just come out and get it done in game 2 no need to be flashy just get it done. Zac will be out after the first half hopefully

I look for us to continue to try to establish the running game early on with a few play action passes thrown in every now and then. We probally won't drop back to pass all that much unless we are in third and long. Though I do hope that we try a pass or two down the field to stretch the defense.

Actually, I see just the opposite. After watching a lot of the USC-Arkansas game, it's pretty evident that USC is very strong on the front seven. Arkansas was at or near the top in the SEC in rushing last year, and pretty high in the national stats as well, and returned most of their line and running backs. But they couldn't get much of a running game going. And it wasn't because they were having to play catch-up; the game got out of hand, score-wise, in the second half. Even so, they couldn't get a running attack going in the first half.

If USC is vulnerable on defense, it is with the pass. The USC game is one in which the Huskers need to go to the pass to spread the defense to open up some running lanes. I wouldn't be at all surprised if the Huskers use the Nichols State game to tune up the passing attack.

Of course, I could be way off base - the thinking could be to be run oriented to try and prepare for USC. But the talent levels are so different that I don't see much use in that.

I can't say what to expect in the next game, but I would bet the farm that Mann doesn't have back to back penalties again for awhile. :bang Anyways, I think that we will try to gain more confidence in the run while fine tuning our WRs abilities. I agree that Purify is has to much talent to sit, while Hardy watches the rock bounce of his chest. I am hoping that our RBs will continue to run hard and smash through the line like they did on Sat. Out of the four, the leader Lucky seemed to be doing more finese running than the others, but I guess it doesn't matter as long as it is positive yards.

Without dedhoarse , I hope our secondary can improve in the coming weeks or we may have closer games than we expect. Sneed(TX), Blythe (ISU) and Jarrett(USC) are very talented and could cause us big problems. I know we are hurting in the secondary, but Grixby should be able to hold his own. If he didnt strip that ball on that one pass play, I would have to give him a D- for his efforts on Sat. I love you guys, but damn, bump the guy at the line or something :bonez

We need to run some different running plays instead of just plain dives and isos. Maybe mix in some counter action or other mis-direction plays. And yes Purify needs to become more involved, he will be a huge asset down near the goaline, although I think our tight ends are too. Secondary needs to play 10x better, it's obvious where our weakness on D is. And how come we only had 2 sacks today and they were both in the first few plays?

I say we just come out and run the score up fast that way we can work on a few things and experiment a little to prepare for the USC game. But, having said that I'm taking this one game at a time and I'm going to see how we do and what mistakes we make in each game. I think we do need to attack USC fast and catch them off guard!!!!
