Ah c’mon, the Pens got the better of this deal. Brett “who’s he” Kulak?
Although we did make some cap space. But Sammy G is definitely the better player. I feel sort of bad for him. Highly possible Stanley Cup run to….Pittsburgh.

Yeah I should have used a different tweet - I think that trade favors Pittsburgh. I think Colorado is trying to free up some cap space.

I was more upset about Crosby being out 4 freaking weeks!

Yeah, Crosby being out sucks. I was wanting to pick up Malkin for my fantasy team but Sid being out may negatively impact Geno’s production as well. I’ll prob still drop Rust and add Malkin but it’s less exciting now. The Pens have some off day games the week of my playoff semifinals so I’m trying to load up player games that week. I’ve already locked up the #1 playoff seed and the semis are 5 weeks away so hopefully Sid is back.

The Avs were definitely looking for cap space with the Sammy move. He’s a solid defenseman but his contract was bit on the high side for a 3rd pair guy. He’ll treat you to some fancy skating. His go to is a circling tornade move

I was fairly impressed with Kulak. Nothing fancy but solid D, more physical than Sammy and he makes that first pass to get it out of the zone. Don’t need him to do any more than that.

The Avs laid seige to the minny crease in the 3rd. Gustavsson was so tense for so long he ended up yakking Unfortunately, every time we pulled our goalie they would immediately score. 5-2 looks ugly but it was a much closer game until very late in the 3rd. And I won’t blame officiating often but it was horrible in this game. A phantom slashing call on Makar and severely one sided calls. The Avs deserved most of their penalties but didn’t get the same stuff called on minny.

I think I saw that "slash" they called. Truly a BS call

Just when I’d given up hope at the trade deadline, Avs pickup my number one wish list player. Welcome back Nazem Kadri.

Now we have the right guy when it comes time to run Binnington

I was left uninspired with the Avs adding two depth pieces this week, Nicolaus Roy and Blankenburg, but Kadri more than makes up for it. Not exactly sure where he’ll slot in. Guessing 2nd line winger but he could take over 3C also. I can’t imagine he would replace Brock Nelson at 2C.

Oh man that was such dumb penalty. Typical Geno though; his anger either fuels scoring or penalties

Got Kadri back from Calgary right at the deadline. I’m very happy with that.

And earlier got 3 pretty good depth pieces. Kulak, Nicolas Roy, and Blankenburg from Nashville. We needed an upgrade at 3C and that’s what Roy was for. But now I wonder what the plan is for Kadri. He could also slot in at 3C, or 2C but then what do we do with Brock Nelson. Kadri can play winger so maybe he plays wing on 2nd line? Blankenburg was the least inspiring for me but maybe needed the depth for a cup run this year.

Nelson is firmly 2C so Kadri is either wing with him or 3C IMO. He should add to the power play though which could be the X factor here as that's the only hole on this team right now.
