Here's your positive note for the day:
LJSNebraska has won 16 straight home night games and is 42-5 all-time at night in Memorial Stadium. It has required some excellent teams to knock off NU under the lights:
1991 — Washington (36-21). Nebraska had a third-quarter lead against the fourth-ranked Huskies. Defensive lineman Steve Emtman wreaked havoc.
2002 — Texas (27-24). Jammal Lord ran for 234 yards on 23 carries, but his late interception allowed the No. 7 Longhorns to hold on.
2007 — USC (49-31). The top-ranked Trojans stayed in nearby Omaha and practiced at a local high school; Pete Carroll took the rare step of closing practice to outsiders after a local radio station announced the location.
2008 — Virginia Tech (35-30). Ndamukong Suh and Bo Pelini both had late penalties that conspired to thwart a comeback attempt.
2008 — Missouri (52-17). Chase Daniel's completion on Jeremy Maclin's slant route on the first series is etched in my mind. Maclin took off like a torpedo, and the No. 4 Tigers cruised.
