Nike vs Adidas

IMO I would also like a switch to Nike just from a marketing stand point. I feel like most schools that go with Nike seem to have a lot more fashionable apparel available that major companies are willing to pick up and sell. Additionally, although it is personal preference, many athletes prefer Nike performance products because of the amount of research put into them.

On a personal stand point I love Adidas, my closet is full of Adidas but for some reason at Indiana University our school athletics are sponsored by Adidas but all of my IU gear is Nike, only because I picked out the stuff I liked the most and only later realized that it was all Nike.

Lastly Nike can only "encourage" or "push" Nebraska to use any special uniforms. In the end it is up to the university to say what color combinations our players will come out of the tunnel wearing.

I found the following information in case anyone was interested.

TOP APPAREL ENDORSEMENT CONTRACTS

These are some of the top apparel deals for universities in the country. The information comes from published reports. The values include cash and estimated compensation of apparel and equipment.

Michigan, $66.5 million, 8 years, Adidas

Notre Dame, $60 million, 10 years, Adidas

North Carolina, $33.7 million, 10 years, Nike

Alabama, $30 million, 8 years, Nike

Kansas, $26.7 million, 8 years, Adidas

Nebraska, $22.7 million, 8 years, Adidas

Oregon, $22.7 million, 8 years, Nike

Indiana, $21 million, 8 years, Adidas

I do like that Nebraska's deal with Adidas ranks so highly among all of these programs and thankfully out does Texa$.

I like adidas and I love the husker jerseys but I wish that we could have some cool unusual jerseys that we could use once in awhile like the nike gear that Tcu got this year.
This is exactly the reason I would rather have adidas gear over nike gear.

and whoever said nike=american all I have to say to that is heh. The american part of nike is designs and branding that will get you to drop double the amount their indo-china made products should cost.

i only wear starter.

that was a joke and a reference to the old starter pull over jackets that dominated the scene in the mid to late 90s. i like adidas because we have been affiliated with them so long, and nike seems to big and popular. adidas is more understated, i like that.

I only wear Jordan shoes which are made by Nike. But for sports gear I don't care who makes it as long as I can wear it lol.

Special Uniforms I to would like to stick with the traditional type. However I do like the occasional different look. So I've always thought it would be neat if we took a special game like this years Texas game and did a black out. Where every fan wears a black shirt and we come out in black uniforms.

Not going to way in on the Adidas vs. Nike debate but I will say, IMO, Nebraska merchandise needs some help. I think my very first thread on this board was on this topic. Needless to say, you guys reamed me a little  . I still say a lot of other schools have great looking stuff but we are very average when it comes to Husker gear. Just saying....don't hate me.
