No Road Game

This just really makes me angry. I don't know the whole story on the Houston debacle. From what I heard ESPN was all over on having this game, but something went wrong. Yeah I know ol' Stevie denyed some things but why not try and have another one. Why have Maine come in??? (if they want an easy Div 1-AA, why not put Northern Iowa or a team people HEARD OF around here). The big red fans always travel well and always will. It would just be nice to go to a field that we haven't been to. Next year will be differnt as we will beat the 3 peat USC Trojans :) . I have been looking forward to this game for over 3 years since the series was first announced.

I read in the paper that NU gains $3.2 million by having this extra homegame. Pud has bills to pay with the new workout facility, another home game I can possibly go see, makes sense to me(although I would have probably gone to Houston anyways). Sorry if you live in Texas and were looking forward to it, but it makes no sense for Nebraska to do it.

You are right, it is all about MONEY. No lie there. But why Maine?? Was it a last second fill in?? Was there any other teams that we could of played? I just don't want to have people get all giddie about beating Maine 77-10. Yes, I will be there and yelling my brains out, but it's Maine. I'm sure Northern Iowa was already filled up with Iowa or Iowa St., but it just seems feasible (to me) to have a team that we can releate to. But then again a home game is a home game :) .

It was a late fill game. Also, not many teams want to come to NEB to play. There were certain obligations Houston needed to meet for us to play them, they didn't meet them so we found someone else. No big deal. Another home game for the Huskers, another chance to tailgate and root for the greatest program in the land in Lincoln, I couldn't be happier!

Nebraska replaced Houston with Wake Forest, not Maine. Maine was already on the schedule. Look at who Houston scheduled and when they are playing them and see when NU is playing Wake Forest (Same Weekend). Houston was suppose to have a deal in place to have ESPN pick up the game. They had 4 months to work on the deal and they couldn't get it done. Stevie wasn't going to wait around and end up getting screwed by having to play 2 DIV-AA teams this season.
