Noise at Memorial Stadium (I mean you, season ticket holders)

Walk-on
I am rather new to this board but I figured it would be a good place to see if I am the only one that is seeing this.

The trend that I seem to notice is this: during the OSU game the students tried getting a Husker-Power chant going, however the only sections responding to the chant seemed to be the upper corners of the stadium..typical seating of those who are able to acquire tickets from someone else, not season ticket holders that are always there. It may just be me but It seems that many of the fans at the stadium aren't nearly as loud as they could be or they get down on the team way too fast, case and point booing the team at the end of the 1st half of that game. This same thing happened during the MSU game with a husker power chant, only the corners of the stadium were participating.

My belief is that if you are a season ticket holder, or just at the game you should be yelling and cheering as much as possible, I am aware that many elderly people hold these season tickets and are a reason the stadium isn't as loud as it could be, they seem to hold these season tickets as a social status symbol and don't really do much except stand up and clap for the fight song. Yes, I have sat elsewhere during games outside the student section so I know for a fact this happens.

Here is my problem with the fans (myself included): Husker fans, stop being so hypocritical, we claim to be the greatest fans in college football yet we booed our team off the field against OSU, then stood and cheered as they left in the 2nd half. Support your team throughout the entire game, not just while they are winning or doing well, they usually need the fans when the offense is struggling.

This concludes my rant.

I have been at every home game so far and I can say that I don't know what you are talking about. Husker Power chants have been started by the students and by the fans in east north south and west stadiums during reviews and all sorts of breaks. Ever since the Ohio State 2nd half comeback, the crowd has been into it. I'll reiterate this again, I think seeing what happened during the Ohio State game [crowd noise] woke a lot of people up and more or less told them they needed to be loud during the entire game.

I sit in a section of season ticket holders, have had my tix for many years and honestly can't remember a time where we didn't stand the majority of the game. I was extremely impressed last week with the fans as I thought for sure the 11a.m start was going to be terrible for us. Honestly, I would rather have the atmosphere we have than something like Madison where you can't even think straight due to the Rock Concert that is going on. Wow, i'm only 40 and i'm starting to sound like my dad :)

I think the crowd would be much louder if we wore black uniforms.
Wait, can't we discuss this further?
Its perfect, really. Black uniforms would disgust all the blue-hairs, who would then give up their seats to a younger, louder crowd.
Then what happens when you younger and louder guys get to be "blue-hairs"? Do you give up your tickets to the younger crowd?

And hey, I'm tired of being discriminated against...no one ever talks about the "no hairs". :cry

ok listen here you balding or shaving your head cause you think it's hip guy. We won't have to worry about us turning into blue hairs or you growing hair since the world is scheduled to end in 2012 lol.

Have they set a particular date for the ending yet? It would be nice if it was at the end of the year, then we could have another golf season and another Husker season. chuckleshuffle Oh, but what if you shave not to be hip but just because it's worth hanging on to whats left.

You're not the only one who wants the crowd noise to increase and for the whole stadium to go bonkers. I was at the tOSU and Michigan State games and the crowd noise was amazing when it was suppose to be but was loud throughout the Michigan State game.

I will say that my dad has season tickets and he's 58 but he yells and screams when we're suppose to so it's not all season ticket holders.
