non-inspired football

Five-Star Recruit
As i sit here and watch MU vs OU and some other games earlier today...i just feel like our players are not inspired to play great football....i dont see them swarming to the ball going balls out all the time...

why is this?

It's the one thing about Bo and his emphasis on execution and this "business" like attitude. I want guys to be jumping around and excited about stuff. Not over celebratory but, you know what i mean.

I hate to agree, but I do. Lots of talent but the intensity to match doesn't seem to be there at this point.

Its like we're playing a prevent defense the whole game. Bo and co must have some serous doubts about our d to seldom blitz. I think the guys need to stuff some people behind the line of scrimmage to get really excited. And wrap some tackles on first contact.

Actually their philosophy is if the front four does their job there is no need to blitz. In their eyes the front four is doing the job well enough.

Our blitzes weren't getting there anyway, we got killed a couple plays when we brought the safety.

that front 4 thing ended when Suh left.

No, it hasn't, they still believe it, and are still running it.

let me restate that...that front 4 thing WORKING ended when Suh left.

I dont believe the down 4 has been all that horrible. without suh, yeah, theyre simply not as good, but they are doing a decent job. I didnt see them getting completely pushed around today, they were doing their job in gobbling up lineman to keep em off the backers/safeties. Them guys need to make the tackles. it was serously exposed last week and again today that the tackling just isnt as solid. some big plays today were flukes, plain and simple, particularily the two big ones on prince. their guy jsut made the play. Them coaches know defense, they know whats going on. Whatever was seen at halftime worked, they were solid the rest of the game. the 3 and outs were huge in this game to force their D quickly back on the field and our guys did it repeatedly. There's no doubt in my mind that Dr. Tom maybe involved a bit this week in getting this home game thing figgered out.
