I think this deserves a "Not So Fast My Friend"

Reasons We Will Beat Texas

-Shutdown Sweed (not that it will be that easy) and take away easily Colt McCoys favorite target by far

-McCoy is going on his first true road test at one of the top 10 hardest places to play, not to mention how electric that stadium will be

-Our RB with the highest amount of yards has more than theirs(6.3 avg.), and has 2 guys behind him with around 350 yards and a avg. of 5.6 a carry, Texas' starter 5.7 a carry

-NU has 2 guys (Purify & Nunn) over 300 yards receiving, Texas has Sweed with 476. Next closest to Sweed is a Pittman 176 yards, Hardy has 221 and Swift has 183.

I realize there our things on that page like total denfense that are in Texas' favor but ours isn't that bad just take away the Kansas game. It seems we have so much more depth than them... if Sweed or Charles has a bad game then they could be in trouble, not to mention they are coming here.

Order Restoration: Complete

It will be interesting to see how each teams pass rush does during the game. Each team has struggled to say the least on getting sacks, thought they both have quite a few hurries.

Calli has only been bull headed about the run in the USC game. i feel that he should have opened up the passing game more then they did against SC but then that would have also given the ball back to SC's offense and they were able to move the ball against us pretty good.

NU needs to have a balanced attack in this game. a good running game will open up passing lanes, and a good passing game will open up the running lanes.

key in on the special teams and this game could be an instant classic. even though i hate "ESPN"

Hopefully it will be a balanced attack. But I don't think we'll see a USC repeat.

USC has a better pass defense than Texas does (giving up 182 per game)...but Texas has a better rush defense (giving up 47.7 per game).

So I think we'll see more passing against their defense.

I hope to see us really open up the play book against Texas. We are going to have to come after them like no one has yet and keep them back on their heels!!!! I don't know how effective we can be running, but we all know their secondary isn't that strong so we should exploit that to help open up the run some..... :restore

i have not seen tejass play that much this year, just the highlights. colt mccoy looks pretty good, but if NU throws the blitz package into the game again and we get alot of pressure on him then we will be ok

We will win by playing our game not theirs. We have to dictate what they do and keep them guessing as to what we will do.

Now the million dollar question: How do we do that and what is BC thinking right now?

I think the Huskers must have success running the ball. They may need passing to open up the running game, but if the Horns make us one dimensional by stopping the run game it's going to be a long day. If Texas is allowed to key on the passing game we might as well pound the rock and keep ZT alive and healthy. I don't believe desperation passing will win the game and could hurt us in the long haul. I think that if we see lots of ineffective runs and not much passing it will be because we are failing to execute, e.g., Texas is controlling the O-line to such a degree that Texas is allowed to focus on receivers.
