Only 3 first rounders? Is that right?? Why so few 1st rounders? We send quite a few players to the NFL, the 14th most of any college team.

Of course these stats were from 2000-2010, the dark years for NU.

The Callahan Era was probably why we sent so few first-rounders to the draft.

In what is probably the most bizarre twist, all three of our 2000's first rounders were Blackshirts:

2005 - Fabian Washington

2007 - Adam Carriker

2010 - Ndamukong Suh

For an era best defined by defensive failure and offensive success, Callahan presided over three first-round defenders. Weird.

There was a time when NU was great at developing players——making them into the best fb players they could be. Then we seemed to lose our edge in training for a few years after our 90's championship run. Now I think we’re getting back to that with Dobson. At least this is the general impression I have.

OTOH, Look at Texas. Every year a top-five recruiting class. But they don’t send many more to the NFL than we do. I guess loud talk doesn’t count for much with NFL scouts.

I was a bit young but my personal take on it is that our failures and successes were pretty equal on both sides of the ball. We had some really good years on both sides of the ball, and we had some equally terrible years. 2003, 2009 and 2010 (heck, 2001 too, when you look at the entire season) were all great years defensively, whereas '01, '06, and '08 were especially memorable on offense.

We should have three first rounders in 3 years next year with Crick, David, and Dennard. All three with 1st round potential for next year.

Beat me to it. We're starting the 2011-2020 decade right under Bo. In terms of number of picks, we could have up to 7 this year. Possibly 3 first rounders next year? Ridiculous

His arms don't look that short to me.

Does Parcells use his waist size as the standard for measurement? If so, then most peoples arms would be consider short.
