Is this the thread where we pretend Nebraska is financially strapped and Perlman is deliberately hamstringing the #1 revenue generating operation for the anything associated with the University of Nebraska?

That was already in his contract, not something that came out of thin air.But we've got an extra 100k laying around for Bo?$$$$$$$This just bothers me. I don't understand this mindset to not take advantage of a "full" staff. There isn't some stupid by-law in the big10 about not being able to have that many recruiting coaches is there? Too lazy to try to find out.I know Bo asked for more, but poor Nebraska did not have the money, desire to be competitive with the teams of the SEC. Bo, again not my favorite, should not be ham strung by the money side. If Bama can have a 30 man division for football recruiting, why can't we. Bo needs to concentrate on football, and be the closer if needed. Comparatively he is underpaid for all the hats he has to wear/ the jobs he has to do vs Saben, Miles, Richt and Spurrier. We need to give him a chance to do the job. If the NCAA allows them to have so many more, why aren't we. A lot of our problems are on Bo's back, but this is one area where he is not getting the support the job demands. Sad to think a few dollars will hold us down. But it always seems to be about money. Quick to spend for hard items, assets, but afraid to try something different that has been proven to work in the most successful conference.
There is of course a diffence between me thinking they're deliberately tanking and me thinking they might be unable to correct the problem.....saunders45 said:No, this is the thread where we pretend our staff doesn't want to maximize every resource to succeed and they're deliberately tanking just to make you mad.Is this the thread where we pretend Nebraska is financially strapped and Perlman is deliberately hamstringing the #1 revenue generating operation for the anything associated with the University of Nebraska?

Did you find what Bama spent the last 5 years. I know they hid the total numbers for awhile, until the NCAA called them on it, I think it was two years ago. But it seems from the comments on the Finebaum program, that it was not figured in the football budget, but general attendance advertising for the University. Still tremendous numbers compared to two, that basically were begged for it seems.
Plus I think Bama has several private planes, which would not show up on the budget, and far less flying miles to be sure.
I think number of employees tells the real story.
Nebraska SHOULD be spending more than Florida, Texas, and Bama. Each of those schools has more top flight prospects in a 300 mile radius than NU does in a 1,000 mile radius. Simply comparing budgets straight up doesn't give you the whole picture.
I think if you looked at how Tennessee figures it's cost, you would find what Bama and some others are hiding. But even so, they double what we spend and have less travel involved.
If we want to be competitive we have to try to be in ever aspect. This is the life blood of college football, and ours is being cut short for what ever reason. This program has the money, the facilities to be competitive. Our recruiting budget should be higher than most due to the travel requirements.
Once you have established yourself as a power, the cost will go down, IE Ohio State, kids flock to the winners. Bama on the other hand is spending more and getting more, and it can not be because Tuscaloosa is such a hot bed of night life!!!
