Yeah, bama has 24 or so on recruiting staff, and we finally have 2. Seems equal.

And yes, Harv is hamstringing the program, and has NOTHING to do with money. There is plenty of money to get a real staff, see the salary of over paid ADSE.
Now lets all read closely:

http://www.tuscaloos.../NEWS/130429991

The Tuscaloosa News for a list of UA employees tasked solely to football revealed 24 non-coaching personnel, not including graduate assistants, set to earn an aggregate total of $1.6 million this year.
That does not mean 24 recruiting coaches. That means, secretaries for the coaches, the Assistant Athletic Director for Football (aka Jeff Jamrog), etc. So lets not pretend they have 24 and we have 2. They have 24 people on the football staff as non-coaches. We have 2 recruiting staff members. That does not mean we have 2 non-coaching personnel for football, or that they have 24 people dedicated solely to recruiting. I don't know what the actual number is for Nebraska, but it is higher than 2.
Maybe you need to re-read the article. It is stated that the extra people are for recruiting, player personel( more recruiting) and people to help with NCAA rules and regulations ( again, recruiting). Pretty much all coaches already have secretaries in place from the get go and don't need more. Bama made these positions and they are all geared toward recruiting.

This is like a never ending carousel ride. Around and around we go. I think Ive read at least 10 times that Alabama has 60 recruiting staff members. I can't take much more, Captain.

Polo, I have said for a long time recruiting has to be he most important aspect that Bo kinda swept under the table. Not an attack, just my feeling.

I listen to the Finebaum show a lot. Frippen hilarious to be honest. But Saben is possessed about recruiting, and like I have said for years we need to be.

I truly think the reason Bo is still here is the buy out and a certain big booster in Texas. But he is here, he needs all the backing he can get. I do not think the University is short stepping because of Bo. I think it/they have felt that the expense is not needed. Be it Bo or anyone else.

I am not defending or attacking, just my feelings about recruiting. I was very heavily involved with it for many years.
Do you get the feeling Pelini and Co are turning into that recruiting first mindset?

I agree, I think for the first few years Pelini thought he could bring in any player and mold them into an All conference player.

The hiring of Wilhite is part of an expansion and reorganization of Nebraska's recruiting office. The football program is also close to filling its open director of player personnel position. That job will also have responsibilities with recruiting in addition to other on-campus responsibilities such as Life Skills and coordinating player outreach.

Yes Eric, I do think there is more of an effort towards recruiting. I still feel we are very far behind, and it is going to take a very dynamic individual to turn it into what it needs to be. I just hope, we are willing to open the purse strings for it on a continuous and growing situation.

Just now remembered Kenny Wilhite is the player that was convicted of careless and imprudent driving before his senior season. If I remember right, an 11 year old girl was killed and there was a big tussle between Osborne and the Daily Nebraskan asking them not to run a story about it.

Didn't know about that, but it's true. Just got to read about that, and read more about the Chrisitian Peter sexualu assault case I had just recently found out about.

Yay! My memories of a prideful, glorious, flawless Husker dream team and the dynasty that was the nineties.....all down the shitter. I am quite a naive fella apparently, and obviously when we were winning championships here, I was a young man, oblivious to all of this stuff. Now, to hear repeated dirt on tose players and tose teams, well, it kind of makes it not so magical. Thanks Huskerboard, you're good for something after all.

Maybe it makes Bo's tirades a little easier to take. Can you imagine where we would have been with the access now available?

Please dont let a few bad cases ruin the memories of a great time. I know you know better. These bad apples cant be allowed to overshadow all the good guys that came out of that time.

it takes a very vast and diverse group to be that good. You need some good ole boys and some criminals. It's just the way it is I guess.

Osborne speaks about his alledged "interference" in some of these cases involving some of his players in his book "On Solid Ground". It was about protecting the player and his rights. Being a player, their crimes-alledged at the time-were always highly publicized and he was doing what he thought was right to prevent a premature judgement on the player. Like the Riley Washington incident. Riley was fried in the press and deemed this evil guy, but does anyone remember any stories of when he was fully aquitted? Or Lawrence Phillips, who though he became what he did since, NEVER had an incident before or after such at his time at Nebraska. And in the most recent book, I'm halfway through the 2nd volume and still have not come across 1 bad thing said by anyone about Lawrence. This is something TO referrs to. They tear these guys down before they're even given proper judgement, without even knowing the young man and/or the exact circumstances of the situation. I always believe TO's heart and intentions were in the right place in dealing with some of these things even if he was in the wrong from a legal or technical standpoint.

This is not an excuse for all of course. Some did some things that there are no excuse for obviously.
