I agree. I saw a lot of improvement with Martinez in his pocket awareness. He's noticing who is going to blitz before the snap better than he did in the first two games.I agree but the larger gaps between the linemen mean the the defense is more spread out. Making it easier for gaps to open up in the running game, the sacs will decrease as the season goes on and Martinez feels more comfortable in the pocket. You can see small improvemnets even within the Washington game. In the first half a blitz was comming off the right side and Martinez just looked at the blitzer untill it was too late. In the second half presure came from the same side and he kept his eyes down field, stepped up in the pocket, and completed the pass. The way we have been running the ball I wouldn't change a thing with the blocking scheme.
TM still needs to learn to throw the ball away sometimes. He took sacks that he didn't need to while waiting for someone to get open, but that's something a QB gets a feel for with time and experience.A couple of the sacks were on martinez. One he just waited too long, when he coulda ran and probably gained 20 yeards. the other was a bad snap against a timing blitz and the play just blew up. But there were two other plays with the pressure bearing down that he just stood in and made a perfect throw. One was the first Mcneill touchdown.
