Offensive Player of the Year

Fife

Three-Star Recruit
I was just wondering what some of you think about Zay Taylor being named OPOY and how beneficial it will be in recruiting. The last time a Nebraska player got this honor it was Eric Crouch. I think it is important to have a pro-style QB named Offensive Player of the Year because it proves we CAN make this West-Coast thing work in Nebraska. However, one thing I was wondering is how many high schoolers say freshmen or sophomores (future recruits) are aware that ZT won the award?

I don't think it will have much effect this year as most of the good quarterbacks have commited else where. However next year, the coaches could use this as a selling point to a high school quarterback that they can make them a player of the year award winner and have a chance at the pros.

The fact that it happened will certinaly help. You can throw in Nebraska with the wind, rain and snow.

I think that Zac winning OPOY will definately help recruiting in the future. Obviously, alot of the big names have been taken this year, but we definately should not underestimate Patrick Witt or Zac Lee. Both have solid numbers and rankings. Just remember, Zac Taylor wasn't the best quarterback recruit ever.
